Synaptophore

Description ) This is an orthoptic instrument which is used for assessment of binocular vision and
strabismus.
Principle : is based on the haploscopic principle . It utilize a septum or mirror to dissociate two
eyes.

Instrument Design : It consist of two cylindrical tubes with right angled mirror and a +6.50 D
lens in each eyepiece. This will optically testing at distance 6m. Pictures are inserted in slide carrier
at end of each tube. Tube can be brought closer or farther to aligh with IPD. Tube can be rotated
horizontally or vertically also.
In addition haidinger brushes can also be attached .

a. With each eye fixating
b. Objective angle and subjective angle
c. In different gaze
2. Measurement of range of fusion
3. Assessment of binocular status: SMP, Fusion, Streopsis
4. After Imaging
5. Appreciation of entoptic phenomenon with haidinger brushes

1. Fusional Vergence exercise
2. Anti suppression exercise
3. Treatment of ARC
4. Amblyopia Therapy
