Domain 1

Content Knowledge and Pedagogy

Domain 1 emphasizes teachers' command of content knowledge and its

interconnection within and across curriculum areas, as well as a solid and critical
awareness of how theories and principles of teaching and learning are applied.
Teachers must understand both the content and the structure of the discipline;
content includes all aspects of a subject, such as concepts, principles, connections,
inquiry methods, open issues, and questions. Because our students rely on us for
information, the information we provide must be accurate. We need to know which
concepts and themes are essential and which are optional; as great teachers, we
also need to know which relationships are required for our teaching area. Each
curricular area necessitates different pedagogical abilities.

Effective educators are aware of common student misunderstandings and

potential sources of error, and they can adjust instruction accordingly. If the teacher
is knowledgeable and can teach in an efficient, effective, and interesting manner,
students will learn well. When creating a lesson plan, you must first choose what
your topic will be and then build activities that will engage your students and allow
them to demonstrate their reasoning and critical thinking skills. The facilitator will be
the teacher, and the students will answer questions and provide support for the
main theme. I understand in making lesson plan that you need to be greater
innovative in school room hobby in order that your elegance will now no longer be
dull and your college students will concentrate attentively at the discussion. Planning
and resourcefulness will make your lesson alive and the learners could be in a
position to take part in each lesson.

literary writing?
What is Academic Writing?  Answers may vary
Academic writing in English is linear, which means it has one central point or
theme with every part contributing to the main line of argument, without
digressions or repetitions. Its objective is to inform rather than entertain. As
well as this it is in the standard written form of the language. There are ten
main features of academic writing that are often discussed. Academic
writing is to some extent: complex, formal, objective, explicit, hedged, and
responsible. It uses language precisely and accurately. It is also well
organised and planned.
1. Expository
Expository writing, as its name implies, is writing that exposes facts. In
other words, it’s writing that explains and educates its readers, rather than
entertaining or attempting to persuade them. When you read a scholarly
article, a textbook page, a news report, or an instructional guide, you’re
reading expository writing.
Expository writing is writing that aims to inform its reader. As mentioned
earlier, this includes all types of factual writing, like textbooks, news stories,
technical guides, and pieces of business writing. Many journalistic pieces are
pieces of expository writing, but not all are—advertorials, opinion pieces,
and many pieces of political writing are not pieces of expository writing
because their primary goal is something other than providing unbiased facts.
Examples Of Expository Writing:
● This morning at 9am, a school bus collided with a car at the
intersection of Jones and Heard streets. There were no injuries on
the school bus, but medical personnel performed checks on each
student and the driver before those students were transported to
their schools. The driver of the car sustained slight, non-life-
threatening injuries. He was transported to the local hospital. The
accident is still under investigation at this time.

● Advances in science and technology have made the use of "green"

energy possible. In places where climate conditions permit, people
are able to use solar energy or wind energy for power. Solar energy
is the use of sunlight for energy and power. Humans are able to
harness the energy of the sun by installing solar panels on their
homes or businesses. Humans have also found ways to harness the
power of the wind by using wind turbines to capture wind energy.
Both of these forms of "green" energy are being used more and
more.  Answers based on

2. How did the author discuss the information in the text? paragraphs

2. Narrative sample paragraphs
Narrative writing is, essentially, story writing. A narrative can be fiction or are accident and
nonfiction, and it can also occupy the space between these as a semi- technological
autobiographical story, historical fiction, or a dramatized retelling of actual advances
events. As long as a piece tells a story through a narrative structure, it’s

narrative writing. Written forms of narration include most forms of writing:

personal essays, fairy tales, short stories, novels, plays, screenplays,
autobiographies, histories, even news stories have a narrative. Narratives
may be a sequence of events in chronological order or an imagined tale with
flashbacks or multiple timelines. Narratives have five elements: plot, setting,
character, conflict, and theme.
● Example: Hungry Wolf

This is a short story about Hungry Wolf.

Once, a wolf was very hungry. It looked for food here and there. But it
couldn't get any. At last, it found a loaf of bread and piece of meat in the
hole of a tree.
The hungry wolf squeezed into the hole. It ate all the food. It was a
woodcutter's lunch. He was on his way back to the tree to have lunch. But
he saw there was no food in the hole, instead, a wolf.
On seeing the woodcutter, the wolf tried to get out of the hole. But it
couldn't. Its tummy was swollen.
The woodcutter caught the wolf and gave it nice beatings.

Guide questions:
1. In what written form of narration did the example fall into?
2. How can you say that a written work is in a form of narrative  Short stories
writing?  Answers may vary
3. Are the elements of narrative writing present in the given example?  Yes

3. Descriptive
Descriptive writing is a literary device in which the author uses details to
paint a picture with their words. This process will provide readers with
descriptions of people, places, objects, and events through the use of
suitable details. The author will also use descriptive writing to create sensory
details as a means of enhancing the reading experience. If done effectively,
the reader will be able draw a connection through the use of sensory details
that include seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting. These
techniques will assist you in becoming not only a better writer, but will also
make your writing more engaging for readers.
● Example: My Best Friend Laura

Laura J. Bernal, whose nickname is Laura, is my best friend from my

childhood. She has a small body and is quite slim. She has oval face with
bright brown eyes and thin lips. Laura J. Bernal has long brown straight hair,
but she usually makes her hair with horse ponytails. She looks very
beautiful, especially when she smiles.
She is always cheerful and looks in a good mood. She is a very positive
person. We have almost the same hobby of singing. Sometimes our opinions
are the same. She is always energetic and brings positive energy for
everyone around her.
She is like a part of my family. I trust her just as I trust members of my
family. She is a very honest type of friend. She always speaks as she is even
though it’s bad. Laura always says what she thinks. We are very close to
each other. She can even know whether I lie to her or not. I’m very lucky to
have a friend like her.

1. How did the author describe Laura?

 The author
described Laura
2. Is there an image formed in your mind while reading the selection? based on his

4. Persuasive (Answers may vary)
Unlike other forms of writing meant to share information or entertain,  Yes
persuasive writing is specifically written to persuade, which is to say it
convinces the reader to agree with a certain point of view. Aside from
standard writing skills, a persuasive essay author can also draw on personal
experience, logical arguments, an appeal to emotion, and compelling speech
to influence readers.
Persuasive writing relies on different techniques and strategies than other
written works: In a persuasive essay, it’s not enough to simply inform; you
also have to convince the reader that your way of thinking is best. So to
help you get started, this guide explains all the basics and provides
persuasive writing examples.

● Example: Persuasive Writing in Ad Campaigns

Persuasive writing is very common in ad campaigns where marketing wants

to convince you to buy something.
● Chippers are the crispiest, crunchiest, and most delicious brand of
chips you will ever taste. Buy a bag today.

● A Lexi Mattress is the most comfortable bed you’ll ever sleep on.

C. ANALYSIS
Discuss the following to the learners:

a) Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal communication consists of any exchanges between people
– this can be face-to-face but can also exist online or over the phone. The
messages people get across to each other can be verbal and nonverbal – we
communicate not only through what we say but also through things like body
language, tone of voice, facial expressions and gestures.

b) 4 Basic Types of Interpersonal Communication

1. Verbal Communication
Verbal communication is the use of words to share information with
other people. It can therefore include both spoken and written
communication. However, many people use the term to describe only
spoken communication. The verbal element of communication is all
about the words that you choose, and how they are heard and
interpreted.

Verbal communication also includes additional auditory factors like

intonation. This refers to how your voice rises and falls in tone as you
speak and can shade how the words are meant to be interpreted.

Questions: with friends,
1) Can you cite examples or situations that show verbal communication? debates,
presentation, etc.

 Answers may vary

2) Do you like being engaged in a verbal communication for a long
period of time? Why/why not?

2. Listening
Listening is sometimes more important than speaking during a strong
interpersonal conversation. In interpersonal communication, listening
includes providing reactions and responses for the person who is
speaking. These reactions and responses done by the listener or
audience are called feedback. It is the feedback to the speaker that
makes listening a more active process. Feedback is any form of
response to the speaker’s message.

Examples:
One can be considered an active listener if he/she displays responses such as:
-Eye contact
-Nodding
-Asking questions

Questions:  Yes
1) Do you think maintaining eye contact with the speaker can help you
easily understand what he/she is saying?  Answers may vary
2) Are you a good speaker or a good listener? Why do you say so?

3. Written Communication
The written communication refers to the process of conveying a
message through the written symbols. In other words, any message
any message exchanged between two or more persons that make
use of written words is called as written communication. Written
communication is considered to be more formal but less efficient than
oral communication.

Examples
-Websites
-Letters
 Love letters, printed

4. Non-Verbal Communication intonation and other
Actions speak louder than words. Non-verbal communication refers to factors.
the ways in which beings convey information about their emotions,
needs intentions, attitudes, and thoughts without the use of verbal
language.

In addition, non-verbal communication often complements spoken

communication. Gestures like ‘air quotes” or shoulder shrugging add
additional if not entirely different meanings to what’s being said.
Emojis may also be considered a form of non-verbal cues because
most of them represent facial expressions and other gestures.

Communication

5. Verbal Communication

Verbal Communication is a sort of vocal

Communication through which a specific message gets
transmitted by spoken words to the listener. In this
type of communication, the sender gives a verbal form
to their personal feelings, opinions, ideas and thoughts
and displays them in a speech, conversation, etc.

The successful effect of Verbal Communication

depends primarily on the speaker’s tone. Other
auditory factors include precision of speech, speed,
volume, intonation, body language and words utilized
in the specific conversation. These factors can shade
how the words are meant to be interpreted.

For example, the phrase “Have a nice day” can take on

6. Non-Verbal Communication
Non-verbal communication refers to non-linguistic behaviours
indicating emotion, mood, attitude and social cues. It is a
critical part of human interaction and can be seen as the most
important form of communication. Moreover, non-verbal
communication is a valuable tool for expressing oneself. It is
hard to control what the body does and we will not be able to
articulate everything with words. That’s why it is important to
be aware of the different ways that people express themselves,
such as using gestures, facial expressions, and tone of voice.
.
Interestingly, most people don’t realise that non-verbal
communication is a huge part of our daily lives, hence, it’s not
something we should ignore. Non-verbal communication is
how we communicate with each other on a subconscious and
intuitive level. How someone walks, talks, gestures, and looks
can be the difference between being loved and hated.

Emojis may also be considered a form of non-verbal

cues because most of these symbols represent facial
expressions and other gestures.

facial expression or gesture (for example a smiling emoji).
After the students have finished their drawing they will raise
their drawing so that the teacher and the class can see what
they have drawn. The student next to the first student will
then stand up and interpret or provide meaning of the first
student’s drawing by converting it into a verbal statement, (for
example the first student had drawn a dove; the second
student will then say something about peace or freedom). This
activity will continue until all students have participated.

Learning Environment

Domain 2 highlights the position of instructors to offer gaining knowledge of

environments which might be safe, stable, honest and supportive with the intention
to sell learner duty and achievement. By growing an engaging, prepared bodily
space, conserving college students to excessive however practical expectancies and
offering possibilities for college kids to prevail each day, I accept as true with that I
can create a gaining knowledge of surroundings complete of each day possibilities
for college kids to research each approximately the curriculum and themselves.

The School Lambunao National High School promotes an environment that

may stable the protection of each college students whilst it comes of pandemic that
we're presently facing. The college centers deliver protection guarantees like a
bathing location which each college students or travelers will wash their arms whilst
coming into the college. The school is equipped with proper signs that indicate the
year that the buildings were erected. They have proper trash bin and engaging
classroom management. Students who claim not to enjoy learning, particularly those
in early elementary grades, have frequently had previous bad experiences with
learning or low self-esteem when it comes to learning.  As I learn more about each
of my students while building our learning community, I will identify students whose
negative attitudes about learning prevent them from working to their full potential.
By learning more about these students and their likes and dislikes, I will identify
points of entry to the curriculum for them to enhance their engagement and,
therefore, chance for academic success. Students also have opportunities to make
connections with each other through a regular sharing time at Morning Meetings and
by highlighting one student each week to be our class’s Student of Week, an event
that would provide a chance for the selected student to share more information
about him or herself each day of their week.

The Learning of the students will reflect on how will you able to make your
classroom more engaging in the eyes of your students. Base on my experience that
classroom setting can give the students a high chance that they can learn inside the
classroom when they can see organize, colorful and challenging classroom
environment. My experience in Lambunao National High School was engaging to
learn because their facility provide rooms that a learner can showcase what their
talents and how they will used that with the help of their teacher.

Domain 3

Diversity of Learners

Domain 3 emphasizes the central role of teachers in establishing learning

environments that are responsive to learner diversity. This Domain underscores the
importance of teachers’ knowledge and understanding of, as well as respect for,
learners’ diverse characteristics and experiences as inputs to the planning and
design of learning opportunities. It encourages the celebration of diversity in the
classrooms and the need for teaching practices that are differentiated to encourage
all learners to be successful citizens in a changing local and global environment.
Throughout the months of my experience I have noticed that some teachers value the
importance of getting to know as much of each student as possible, in terms of:
family, background, interests, dislikes and learning styles. Hence, at the beginning of
each school year every teacher starts developing a student profile which they know
will help provide a deeper understanding of their students’ unique interests, styles and
abilities. Being well acquainted with students becomes an asset in providing them an
opportunity to develop their fullest potentials by focusing on the weakness and
strengths of individual student when grouping them to conduct activities or class
work. Some teachers use diversity grouping because it encourages children to
socialize and engage in more meaningful activities which develops a greater
awareness of their differences and discovery of talents/skills. Opposing, whenever
grouping students, sometimes teachers incline students to select others of their own
capabilities. I also notice that the learners capabilities can cater by the teachers
because they can provide the learners needs in order for them to learn no matter
what capabilities they are. Conducting a remedial class is the example wherein it helps
the learner’s mind to think more and enhance their mind, for them to be focused in
their different weaknesses. Engaging them will make them experience task based on
the things they have to learn in school or outside.

Curriculum and Planning

Domain 4 addresses teachers’ knowledge of and interaction with the national

and local curriculum requirements. This Domain encompasses their ability to
translate curriculum content into learning activities that are relevant to learners and
based on the principles of effective teaching and learning. It expects teachers to
apply their professional knowledge to plan and design, individually or in collaboration
with colleagues, well-structured and sequenced lessons. These lesson sequences
and associated learning programs should be contextually relevant, responsive to
learners’ needs and incorporate a range of teaching and learning resources. The
Domain expects teachers to communicate learning goals to support learner
participation, understanding and achievement.

My personal and professional reflections of curriculum planning, is that the

process is both creative and practical. For me, it was always important to be
involved in designing a course that was capable of transferring into practice. By this
I mean, the course planning should not be a ‘pie in the sky’ idea that will never work
in reality. The vital factors to keep in mind is what will be the benefits to those who
go on to successfully complete the course, and what the impact will be for the wider
community and society.

Curriculum planning is hard work for every individual involved. If it is a

collaborative venture, there are lots of necessary debates and discussions about
what should be in the course/curriculum and why. This takes time, and the ability to
negotiate and compromise on the final draft of the course. Curriculum planning on
your own, is less fraught, because all the ideas and choices about the curriculum
are yours! Although, any planned curricula will, normally, need to go through an
approval or validation panel before the course can be accepted to implement.
Presenting the course to a validating panel can be both exhilarating and soul
destroying, depending on how personal you take or react to comments and
questions raised by members of the panel. As a member of the presenting panel it is
necessary to be able to make a strong case for the curriculum to be approved, and
to be armed with ready answers to defend and promote the ideas embedded in it.
The best fun and challenges come when you implement the curriculum, and see how
well it pans out.

3. What do you think is the main purpose of academic writing? How about
literary writing?  Answers may vary
What is Academic Writing?

Both of these forms of "green" energy are being used more and  Answers based on

2. Narrative are accident and
Narrative writing is, essentially, story writing. A narrative can be fiction or technological
nonfiction, and it can also occupy the space between these as a semi- advances
autobiographical story, historical fiction, or a dramatized retelling of actual

The woodcutter caught the wolf and gave it nice beatings.

writing?  Yes
6. Are the elements of narrative writing present in the given example?

4. Persuasive  Yes
Unlike other forms of writing meant to share information or entertain,
persuasive writing is specifically written to persuade, which is to say it
convinces the reader to agree with a certain point of view. Aside from
standard writing skills, a persuasive essay author can also draw on personal
experience, logical arguments, an appeal to emotion, and compelling speech
to influence readers.

L. ANALYSIS
Discuss the following to the learners:

e) Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal communication consists of any exchanges between
people – this can be face-to-face but can also exist online or over the phone.
The messages people get across to each other can be verbal and nonverbal
– we communicate not only through what we say but also through things
like body language, tone of voice, facial expressions and gestures.

f) 4 Basic Types of Interpersonal Communication

7. Verbal Communication
Verbal communication is the use of words to share information with
other people. It can therefore include both spoken and written
communication. However, many people use the term to describe
only spoken communication. The verbal element of communication is
all about the words that you choose, and how they are heard and
interpreted.

Verbal communication also includes additional auditory factors like

intonation. This refers to how your voice rises and falls in tone as
you speak and can shade how the words are meant to be
interpreted.

4) Do you like being engaged in a verbal communication for a long

period of time? Why/why not?

8. Listening
Listening is sometimes more important than speaking during a
strong interpersonal conversation. In interpersonal communication,
listening includes providing reactions and responses for the person
who is speaking. These reactions and responses done by the listener
or audience are called feedback. It is the feedback to the speaker
that makes listening a more active process. Feedback is any form of
response to the speaker’s message.

Examples:
One can be considered an active listener if he/she displays responses such
as:  Yes
-Eye contact
-Nodding  Answers may vary
-Asking questions

Questions:
3) Do you think maintaining eye contact with the speaker can help you
easily understand what he/she is saying?
4) Are you a good speaker or a good listener? Why do you say so?

9. Written Communication
The written communication refers to the process of conveying a
message through the written symbols. In other words, any message
any message exchanged between two or more persons that make
use of written words is called as written communication. Written
communication is considered to be more formal but less efficient  Love letters, printed ads, emails,

P. ANALYSIS
Discuss the following to the learners:

g) Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal communication consists of any exchanges between people –
this can be face-to-face but can also exist online or over the phone. The
messages people get across to each other can be verbal and nonverbal – we
communicate not only through what we say but also through things like body
language, tone of voice, facial expressions and gestures

h) Verbal and Non-verbal Interpersonal Communication

11. Verbal Communication

Verbal Communication is a sort of vocal Communication through which a

specific message gets transmitted by spoken words to the listener. In
this type of communication, the sender gives a verbal form to their
personal feelings, opinions, ideas and thoughts and displays them in a
speech, conversation, etc.

The successful effect of Verbal Communication depends primarily on the

speaker’s tone. Other auditory factors include precision of speech,
speed, volume, intonation, body language and words utilized in the
specific conversation. These factors can shade how the words are meant
to be interpreted.

For example, the phrase “Have a nice day” can take on a number of
different meanings when you imagine it said in a friendly way,
sarcastically, or even ominously

Note that written communication is also a part of verbal communication.

12. Non-Verbal Communication

Non-verbal communication refers to non-linguistic behaviours indicating emotion,
mood, attitude and social cues. It is a critical part of human interaction and can
be seen as the most important form of communication. Moreover, non-verbal
communication is a valuable tool for expressing oneself. It is hard to control what
the body does and we will not be able to articulate everything with words. That’s
why it is important to be aware of the different ways that people express
themselves, such as using gestures, facial expressions, and tone of voice.

Interestingly, most people don’t realise that non-verbal communication is a huge

part of our daily lives, hence, it’s not something we should ignore. Non-verbal
communication is how we communicate with each other on a subconscious and
intuitive level. How someone walks, talks, gestures, and looks can be the
difference between being loved and hated.

Emojis may also be considered a form of non-verbal cues because most

of these symbols represent facial expressions and other gestures. .

C. Symbol Translation

The teacher will provide the students a piece of illustration board and a chalk
that will be used in this activity. The students will be instructed to draw a non-
verbal sign, symbol, facial expression or gesture (for example a smiling emoji).
After the students have finished their drawing they will raise their drawing so
that the teacher and the class can see what they have drawn. The student next
to the first student will then stand up and interpret or provide meaning of the
first student’s drawing by converting it into a verbal statement, (for example the
first student had drawn a dove; the second student will then say something
about peace or freedom). This activity will continue until all students have
participated.
D. Group Chat Conversation

The teacher will divide the class into four groups. Using their mobile phones,
they will create a group chat and talk about a topic that they have chosen. The
teacher will provide the learners a list of topics. The learners will choose one
topic which will be the subject of their talk in the group chat. The teacher will be
added to the group chat in order for him to read the conversation. They will be
graded according to the rubrics prepared by the teacher.

Domain 5

Assessment and Reporting

Domain 5 relates to processes associated with a variety of assessment tools

and strategies used by teachers in monitoring, evaluating, documenting and
reporting learners’ needs, progress and achievement. This Domain concerns the use
of assessment data in a variety of ways to inform and enhance the teaching and
learning process and programs. It concerns teachers providing learners with the
necessary feedback about learning outcomes. This feedback informs the reporting
cycle and enables teachers to select, organize and use sound assessment processes.

To accurately and effectively use multiple measures, it is important for

teachers to understand the characteristics, uses, advantages, and limitations of the
different types of assessments for evaluating how students learn, what they know
and are able to do, and what kinds of experiences and technology will support their
growth and development. The teacher also needs to understand measurement
theory and assessment issues, such as validity, reliability, bias, and scoring.
Successful teachers should remember that assessment is an essential tool in the
education process. Therefore, a variety of formal and informal assessment
techniques should be employed to enhance their knowledge of their students, enable
them to evaluate progress and performance, and then make teaching and learning
modifications based on assessment results. The teacher will also use the
assessments from multiple sources of data to determine if students’ require support
from a specialist to monitor student progress and to design or refine interventions,
including differentiated instruction that have been taught. Teachers should also use
assessment strategies that involve students in self-assessment exercises in order to
help them become aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, and to encourage
them to set personal learning goal. Throughout the entire assessment process,
communication is the key.

Teachers should keep the student, parents, and school leadership abreast of
student progress so that all responsible parties can form a united team in support of
the student’s learning goals. Teachers should evaluate the classroom and individual
student learning situation, comparing the results to the goals set, and REACT to the
results reflecting on the consequences and deciding what to do next. This is a
constant process of action and reaction, where the teacher is learning and making
decisions based on results and students performance.

Community Linkages and Professional Engagement

Domain 6 affirms the role of teachers in establishing school-community

partnerships aimed at enriching the learning environment, as well as the
community’s engagement in the educative process. This Domain expects teachers to
identify and respond to opportunities that link teaching and learning in the classroom
to the experiences, interests and aspirations of the wider school community and
other key stakeholders. It concerns the importance of teachers’ understanding and
fulfilling their obligations in upholding professional ethics, accountability and
transparency to promote professional and harmonious relationships with learners,
parents, schools and the wider community.

Personal Growth and Professional Development

Personal development, often known as self-development, refers to having personal

characteristics and strengths that help teachers identify and make meaning of their teaching
practice and of themselves as individuals. This is accomplished through acquiring the
necessary life skills that will enable them to advance both within and outside of their job.
Teachers can use a variety of life skills to help them deal with the obstacles of
everyday life. Getting organized, fixing difficulties, engaging pupils, and caring about them
are all important life skills for teachers. Teachers must develop particular life skills relating to
their personal lives because their professional roles can be influenced by personal
circumstances. These can include balancing their professional and personal lives, dealing
with familial pressure, stress, and negative emotions (such as rage, despair, and so on),
making appropriate health decisions, and so on.

Personal development is a powerful instrument for teachers to achieve a well-defined

and healthy sense of self (self-concept enhancement), which can lead to increased self-
esteem and confidence. Furthermore, it allows teachers to detect, analyze, and manage
their emotions, resulting in strong intrapersonal skills (emotional intelligence).

The development of the 'teacher self' is critical to improving educational quality . It

mainly focuses on socio-emotional or affective growth, which may be seen in teachers'
attitudes and interactions with their students. As a result, teacher education programs
should focus on the personal growth of teachers.
