Report on the war in Ukraine and the situation with Russia

It all started after the cold war, in the year 1991, this year signed the end of the Soviet Union and
its loss of the cold war, it ended up shattered in smaller countries that quickly gained
independence from Russia and became heavily influenced by the western countries. The real
problem arrived when some of these countries that were really close to Russia started joining the
NATO, since Putin still considered those countries to be part of Russia he felt like he was being
attacked, thankfully this tension faded after the election of the Ukrainian president Viktor
Yanukovich who decided to not pursue this goal, however this changed after the war in Donbass
during which the president escaped from the country and joining NATO became somewhat of a
priority. There are also some other motivations brough up by Putin like the fact that there’s
discrimination against Russians in countries where minorities live.
There is one important factor that has to be addressed before moving onto the consequences of
this War which is the political structure of Russia, it’s important to note how our countries have
more of a controlled republic while Russia has a presidential republic, the fact that so much power
is in the hand of a man that is supported by a party that is conservatory and has been on the verge
of Russia for many years , and also the fact that Medvedev (the current Russian president) is under
the influence of Putin really makes you wonder.
The main consequences of this war are many, first of all there’s the exclusion of Russia from
external contacts with other countries that are part of NATO, this exclusion covers many fields, the
main one is the exclusion from, the banks outside Russia and the transfer of money, this is a big
problem because blocking the connection with other countries or imposing higher taxes for it can
cause the inflation of the monetary value, since the demand for Russian products will lower, it will
also lower the demand for the conversion of money into rubles which will increase the ratio of the
selling of rubles essentially decreasing their monetary value, this creates a high inflation that will
lead many people in ruin.
The inflation is a big problem, even by looking at the chart for the conversion of rubles into euros
we can see how their value has plummeted during the last month, in fact since February 25 th of
this year there has been a rapid descend, leading 1 ruble from being worth 0.011 euros to 0.0068,
we can see how it almost became half of what it was worth before and this is a big problem,
however the inflation goes in line with the plans of the other countries which aim to create
discontent in the population which will inevitably burst into a revolution, thus creating a new
government, all we can do now is hope.
