 MOVEMENT

The human body is capable of enthrailing movements. The fluidity with which our bodies move is simply
remarkable. The way we move is unique. Our ability to stand on two feet alone distinguishes us from
almost the entire animal kingdom. Human movement has definitely played a part in enabling us to
shape this very world to cater to our needs out of all the other species.

And then there are people like the one in the photograph who have pushed their bodies to the limit to
achieve movements the likes of which leave us in awe. The image shows the amount of effort and time
the man has expended in order to achieve such motion .

This movement of our body not only enables us to survive but also defines who we are. We have
created sports revolving around our unique motions such as football , cricket , tennis etc. Which leads to
the overlap of multiple cultures. People from all over the world gather to cheer on sportsmen who with
there spectacular movements change the very dynamics of a sport. In a world of conflicts it gives us an
excuse to unite even if only for the duration of a game.

However the ability of our bodies to move like this has it’s own drawbacks. The movements we can
achieve are very complex making them very difficult to replicate. This tends to be an issue especially in
the world of prosthetics where research is being done to create substitue body parts for people who are
less fortunate or those who have lost parts of their body in war and accidents.

This picture depicts one of my goals in life. I want to be able to move my body like that. Inorder to do
which I will have to gain a great deal of strength, flexibility and mobility. It will be a long and hard
journey but I am prepared.
