A. Objectives
Promoting collaboration and partnership to facilitate dialogue around the youth
movement with youth and youth organizations, discussing more deeply relevant issues
related to the Sustainable Development Goals between countries worldwide. This will
increase youth innovation, insight, and knowledge in providing constructive feedback
from various existing youth movements regarding relevant policy-making processes.
This forum will highlight the multi-sectoral approach of youth movements from
multiple countries to find solutions on issues related to the Sustainable Development
Goals and the role of youth organizations in encouraging the rural and rural
communities.

B. Proposal Submission
Proposals are submitted by online submission no later than January 25, 2022. The
sender will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail and a copy of the proposal will
be sent to the registered email. Individuals aged 16-30 years old/youth
organizations/youth groups/students/youth-initiated institutions/civil society who have
a particular concern for youth are welcome to submit proposals to the IYouth
Conference-VSDGs 2022 committee. Proposals will be curated by the IYouth
Conference-VSDGs 2022 committee, which then will be adjusted to the format of the
session in the series of events.

C. Theme and Sub-theme


a. Theme
The theme highlights the rapid development of youth movements around the
world in solving problems from various loci, especially in villages. This has
become pivotal, particularly during the pandemic in which almost every physical
activity and development goal can not be achieved without youth participation.

b. Sub-theme
This event raised the topic of Village Sustainable Development Goals, which are
grouped into 3 pillars of sustainable development, consisting of the social,
economic, and environmental sectors. The VSDGs are derived from 17 global goals
that are focused on the rural scope, thus it has one additional objective which is
classified into the social sector (the 18th goal). However, the committee does not

limit it to only referring to the Village SDGs and SDGs in general, as listed below.
The explanation of the SDGs in the village scope adopted from the global SDGs by
the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and
Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendes PDTT RI) can be accessed

1. Youth Movement on Social Sector


This sub-theme is related to the SDGs Goals No. 1, 2, 3, 4. 5. 16:

This sub-theme is related to the SDGs Goals No. 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15:

D. Session Formats
Each session format will be 100-120 minutes long and the initiator of the program can
choose any of the following formats:

1) Showcase (100-120 mins) – An open space for any communities/ organizations/
groups to share their recent activities related to sub-theme that have been given
about Sustainable Development Goals and Village, or any new initiatives or
insight to seek engagement or collaboration among participants.
2) Discussion Panel (100-120 mins) – Presentation and/or sharing of perspective
or viewpoint by speakers on a particular topic related to the sub-theme that has
been prepared. The number of speakers on the discussion panel shall not be
more than 4.
3) Roundtable (100-120 mins) – Interactive dialogue involving all participants
with designated moderators and not more than 2 speakers.

F. Evaluation Criteria
a. Relevance: Are the proposal’s specific issues that are clearly related to the
designed sub-theme and related to the theme of IYouth Conference-VSDGs
2022.
b. Detail and Clarity: Does the proposal provide all information requested in the
submission form (Issues, viable approach to discussion, and the choice of
moderator/contributors). The status of conformation and relevance of panelists
to the issues discussed will be considered.
c. Inclusion and Diversity:
1. Proposed proposals should be represented perspective from
multi-sectoral of the youth movement and provide diverse sectors;
2. Represent at least two difference organization/ community/ group/
sector;
3. Ensure that the speaker’s composition is not only balanced in terms of
numbers but also gender.

Additional Note
The committees of IYouth Conference-VSDGs 2022 would like to see more
collaborative discussion among the participants, so we strongly encourage proposals
that foster interactive dialogue with on-site/offline session moderators confirmed.

A description of how you intend the session to be conducted such that a clear
objective, method, scope for participants would help the committee better understand
your proposal. There is no strict limit on the number of session submissions.

G. Responsibilities of Session Organizers


a. Respect the diversity of opinion, belief, experience, background, and gender
equality;
b. Be inclusive and foster new connections among participants;
c. Design your session to fit under one of the IYouth Conference-VSDGs 2022
subthemes;
d. Respect your time allocation, ensure sufficient time available to engage with
the audience online or offline;
e. Invite different individuals or your movement or community to collaborate on
the session with you, and diversity is key;
f. Promote IYouth Conference-VSDGs 2022 among organizer networks along
with your session;
g. Submit a session summary report to the committee within 2 weeks of the
conference.

H. FAQ
1. Content
What constitutes a good session proposal
A good session proposal should raise clear and relevant issues with concrete
questions and agendas. A session with a confirmed list of speakers is preferred
when submitting the proposal.

2. Speakers
How many speakers should be invited?
The program committee encourages interactive dialogue between speakers
and participants. Therefore, the maximum number of speakers cannot exceed

different genders, stakeholder groups, and possibly different geographic
locations.
Is it possible to include a remote speaker?
Yes.

3. After Proposal Submission
a. When do I know whether my proposal is accepted?
The acceptance notification is expected to be announced by 31 January 2022
and the committee will contact the successful session organizer through email
or WA number.
b. If my proposal is accepted, what should I do next?
You should confirm with your moderators/speakers and make sure they are
available at the date of the conference and have their travel and
accommodation arranged. Please directly update the status of your
moderators/speakers from the form that the committee provided after the
acceptance.
c. When should I submit materials, if any, to be used during the session?
If there are any powerpoints or videos or materials used for presentation,
please send them to the iyouthconference-vsdgs@desamind.id maximum 21
March 2022 at 10.00 pm (GMT+7) with the subject
(PPT_Proposal_Name/Institution/Organization).
d. Is there anything I need to follow up on after the session?
You should submit a brief summary of the session within 2 weeks.

4. Attendance
a. Should the organizer of the session be the moderator or vice versa?
The moderator can be different from the organizer of the session. The
session organizer is responsible for submitting a brief report of the session
and updating the online session page. It is recommended that the moderator
can attend the event session in person. If not, a facilitator is needed to
interact with participants at the location.
b. Will I receive financial support to attend the conference if my session is
accepted?
The committee will attempt to provide financial support for moderators and
one speaker to attend the live event. The committee has a separate and
independent evaluation process. Every session organizer and moderator/
speaker will have to arrange themselves.
