ANGELOLOGY

Heb. 11:14

Angelology
 Is the study of angels.
 The doctrine of angels follows logically the doctrine of God, for the angels are primarily the
ministers of God providence.
 There is first the Gnostic worship of angels (Col. 2:18)
 The work of satan and the evil spirit in hindering the progress of grace in our own hearts and the
work of God in the world. (Eph. 6:12)

The Origin, Nature, Fall and Classification of the Angels.

1. The origin of the angels.
a. That angels do not exist from all eternity.
b. Evident from the scriptures which speak of their creation.
Neh. 9:6, Psa. 148:2-5, Col. 1:16, 1 Tim. 6:16, Gen. 1:1, Job 38:4-7
c. Numbers of angels is very great

2. Nature of Angels.
a. They are not glorified human beings. – Mat. 22:30
 In the coming age believers are to judge angels. – 1 Cor. 6:3
b. They are incorporeal. – Psa. 104:4
c. They are a company and not a race. – Heb. 12:22
 Gen. 6:1-4 – sons of God were the fallen angels.
 Nephilim were the hybrid offring of the union between the fallen angels and human
women.
d. They are greater than man in knowledge, though not omniscient. – 2 Sam. 14:20, 1 Tim. 5:21,
1 Pet. 1:12
e. They are stronger than man, though not omnipotent. – Psa. 103:20, 2 Pet. 2:11, 2 Thes. 1:7
3. The fall of Angels.
The fact of their fall. - Eze. 28:17 (sin, pride, apostacy)
(Psa. 78:49, Mat. 25:41, Rev. 9:11, 2 Pet. 2:4)
4. The time of their fall.
Scripture is silent on this point, but it is clear that the fall of the angels occurred before the fall
of man. – Gen 1:2
5. The cause of their fall.
This is one of the deep mysteries in Theology. The angels were created perfect.
6. The result of their fall.
a. Mat. 10:1 – unclean spirit. (Eph. 6:11-12, Rev. 12:9)
b. 2 Pet. 2:4 – some cast down to hell. (Tartarus)
c. Gen. 3:17-19 – the ground was cursed because of Adam’s sin.

d. Rev. 12:7-9, Dan 10:12-21, Jude 9 – Some are left free and engage in definite opposition to the
Work of the good angels.

Therefore, conclude that the fall of the angels was due to their deliberate self-determined revolve
against God – Eze. 28:11-19. The Tyran king seems to symbolize satan, king of Babylon symbolize satan (Isa
14:13-14). It was selfishness and discontent with that he had and craving to get.
No doubt that the cause of their fall, fall was also the cause of the fall of the other evil angels and
demons.
Therefore, that the sin of the angels had something to do with the ruination of the original creation in
Genesis 1.
In the future day be cast to the earth (Rev. 12:8-9) following the judgment (1 Cor. 6:3) into the lake of
