I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of algebraic
expressions, the properties of real numbers as applied in linear equations, and
inequalities in one variable.
B. Performance Standards
The learners is able to model situations using oral, written, graphical, and
algebraic methods in solving problems involving algebraic expressions, linear equations
and inequalities in one variable.
C. Learning Competency
Uses models and algebraic methods to find the ( product of two binomials ),

At the end of the 60mins. lesson, students will be able to:
a. Explain the proper way on how to solve the product of two binomials.
b. Create an binomial equation and solve it using the FOIL Method.
c. Appreciate the importance of solving a product of binomial in real life situations

expressions composed of two
terms like 2x+y
The FOIL Method is a shortcut to
multiplying binomials, rather
than using the distributive
property twice. Some special
products of binomials suggest
other patterns, such as the
product of the sum and
difference of two expressions,
the product of squaring the sum
of an expression, and the product
of squaring the difference of an
expression.

FOIL is an acronym for the order


of multiplying terms in a product
of two binomials. Suppose the
binomials were (x +2) (x +3). The
first step is to multiply the first
terms, x·x or x2. Next, the
outside terms, 3x, and then the
inside terms, 2x. Finally, the last
terms, 2·3, or 6. Combining like
terms, the product of (x + 2) (x
+3) equals x2 +5x +6.
