Washable Nanofiber Mask

Materials
Nanofiber Membranes - 100-500 nm in diamater, thermally-driven in non-isothermal separation
process, in which only vapor molecules can transfer through a highly hydrophobic microporous
membrane.
Nonwoven Fabric - made from a patented process that spins various types polymers into
exceptionally long and thin strands.

The purpose of this Nanofiber mask is to create a nano-filter that retains high filtering efficacy
even after being hand washed over 20 times. By developing patented technology that aligns
nanofibers with diameters ranging from 100 to 500 nm in orthogonal or unidirectional
orientations. This reusable nano-filtered face mask might assist to alleviate the problems caused
by a face mask supply shortfall. Washable Nanofiber Mask will be an excellent product for
dealing with these issues. This ensures that any undesirable particles are filtered while remaining
cost effective. This is significant because, once again, there is a worldwide scarcity of the
common material used in surgical and N95 masks.

F. Assessment
1. What are the nanomaterials and how are they made?
- Nanomaterials are chemical substances and materials made up of very small individual units.
Because of their small size, nanomaterials usually display unique properties that make them
useful in production. Nanomaterials need unique production procedures due to their tiny size and
the accuracy required to make them properly. Nanomaterials are manufactured using one of two
methods. The first is top-down production. This technique begins with big bits of material.
Chemical and physical processes degrade it until the required nanomaterial is formed. This
method might be pretty straightforward depending on the chemical. With the correct equipment,
some metal nanoparticles, for example, may be crushed down from microparticles. Bottom-up
manufacturing is the second type of manufacturing process. These techniques start with single
atoms or molecules. They bind them together using chemical and physical techniques to form
useful nanostructures. Bottom-up procedures often produce the most distinctive and strong
nanomaterials, but they are more difficult to implement than top-down processes.
2. What are the factors that need to be considered before manufacturing materials through
nanotechnology?
- Nanotechnology is not a single technology, it may become pervasive.
- Nanotechnology seeks to develop new material with specific properties
- Nanotechnology may introduce new efficiencies and paradigms which may make some natural
resources and current practices uncompetitive or obsolete.
- It may be complicated to detect its presence unless one has the specialist tools of
nanotechnology,
3. What are the contributions of nanotechnology for the improvement and sustainability of our
environment?
- Improves detection and removal of contaminants and the development of benign
industrial process and materials
