MODULE 5
CLASS 01
A LEADER OF FAITH
Biblical Reference: So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Romans
10:17).
The Bible contains extraordinary stories of men and women who lived lives of faith. Their
obedience to the Word enabled them to make a difference in their generation. The Apostle
Paul stated that, “…faith comes from hearing, and hearting by the word of Christ” (Romans
10:17). Faith only comes when there is contact with the Word.
This is why men (and women) of God in the Old Testament learned to listen to the Lord and
believe His Word. They didn’t question the Word, argue against it, or cut portions out of it –
they simply obeyed the Word as God had spoken it. Although circumstances were not in their
favor, they were able to conquer great things because they trusted in God’s promises. It is
essential that we wait on God. This characteristic should be deeply rooted in the heart of
every leader.
III. INTRODUCTION
1. The men (and women) of God whose extraordinary stories are recorded in the Bible are
all described as having lived lives of faith.
2. Faith is a great spiritual resource because it allows us to conquer our limitations and
move beyond them.
3. Hebrews 11, records the exciting stories of those who stood out in their generation.
They all had one thing in common – they believed and obeyed the Word of God. In
other words, they were people of faith.
4. In the same way, every person developing the G12 Vision (win souls, make disciples)
should activate his or her faith to conquer in life and ministry. Faith allows us to see that
the impossible can be achieved.
In this passage, we can learn the steps to take in order to conquer through faith.
1. This woman made every effort to overcome her illness but to no avail. She spent 12
years seeking a cure. Nothing changed.
2. Until she took 4 important steps in the midst of her suffering, which also provide us with
an example of, how faith obtains miracles.
2. Imagine this woman seeing a crowd outside her house. She starts to ask what’s
happening. They tell her that Jesus is on His way. “Who is Jesus?” she asks. And
they begin to tell her: He’s the promised Savior. By His Word demons are cast out,
storms are calmed and the sick are healed.
3. As she heard this, faith was born and the door of her heart opened to receive the entire
blessing God wanted her to receive. This is what Paul meant when he wrote…
4. Faith allows us to see that what we thought was impossible is possible. Diligently
studying God’s Word allows His voice to reach our hearts.
1. This woman had a clear picture in her mind of what Jesus would do for her. She saw
herself walking through the crowd, finding Jesus, touching the edge of His cloak and
experiencing a miracle.
2. What does “visualizing the miracle,” mean? It means painting a clear, detailed picture in
our minds of what we want God to do for us based on His Word.
3. Many people find visualizing hard to do. But this is where prayer comes in. Wait on
God and allow Him to minister to your heart. This is when the Holy Spirit comes to help
us paint the pictures we need in order to receive our miracle.
1. “For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well’” (Mark 5:28).
2. God’s Word created faith in her heart, a vision in her mind, and then words from her
mouth. She declared her miracle. She confessed that Jesus would heal her…before it
happened.
3. Faith speaks God’s Word over situations. Faith speaks words of life, not negative,
harsh or bitter words.
4. When believers take the Word, make it part of their own lives and trust in it in faith, God
sets into motion everything to work in their favor. Nothing is impossible for those who
have placed all their trust in God.
D. Step #4 – Persevere.
2. The woman in Mark 5 was determined and Jesus noticed her faith. She made her way
through the crowd, reached out to Jesus, touched Him, and expected her miracle.
V. CONCLUSION
When we push through, regardless of the problems we may face, to a place of intimacy with
God, we are able to make significant things happen. Faith is what shapes our destiny. Faith
creates in us both the desire and the action to do His good will. Faith causes us to stand in a
place so high, we can see over all of life’s obstacles and causes us to pass over them. Faith
leads us to Jesus.
VI. HOMEWORK
Homework will not be graded or used to determine whether or not a student “passes” or “fails”
a class. The purpose of the homework assignment is to encourage the student to continue
studying the material covered in each lesson on his or her own.
2. Review the questions with the class so they understand the assignment.
3. Inform the students that at the beginning of next week’s class, you will be discussing
everyone’s answers.
