1. Introduction

1.1 Overview
AN-101D is a surface-mounted type geomagnetic parking sensor with radar detecting based on
standard LoRaWAN protocol to detect the status (occupied or empty) of a parking space. When it
detects that there is a car parked in or leaving the parking space, the status information of the
parking space will be sent to a LoRa gateway, and gateway will transmit the information to LoRa
network server, then LoRa network server will decode the LoRa data and interface with the smart
parking platform to achieve real-time management of parking lots. Easy to install in ground, it is
widely used in urban road-side parking space and other application scenarios.

2.2 Software structure

The whole structure is made up of AN-101C software and web-based configuration software
(Winext manage App) connected via wireless configuration tool.

3. How to work

The smart parking system consists of LoRa geomagnetic parking sensor, LoRa gateway, LoRa
network server on Cloud or PC, application platform.
Parking sensor
Using adaptive algorithm, parking sensor can detect magnetic field change and estimate if the
parking space is occupied or not, and then sends the information to gateway accordingly.
LoRaWAN gateway
LoRaWAN gateway receives data from parking sensor via LoRaWAN communication protocol.
Then data is sent from LoRaWAN gateway to platform via Ethernet or cellular mobile network.
LoRa network server
LoRa data should be parsed by LoRa network server and then display on application
management(smart parking) platform visually. As to LoRa network server, Winext LoRaWAN
middleware or IoT vision can provide API and MQTT message subscribing to interface with
customer’s application platform. If customers haven’t had their own application platform, they can
develop their own application platform based on Winext LoRaWAN middleware or IoT vision.
The Winext LoRaWAN middleware or IoT vision can be deployed locally on Cloud or PC, and
data is in customer’s side.
Management platform
Application management platform receives information from platform and makes it visualization.
It displays the collection of parking status, the record of parking time, parking fees, etc. The
application platform can analyze the data comprehensively and make full use of the data to
improve management efficiency.

7. Trouble-shooting

1. Is there a request to the location where the device is installed in the parking space?
A: Please refer to the vehicle guide and select the installation direction. It is to be installed in the
position of 3:2 in the parking space. Please look up to sections 4.3.

2. How far is from the device distance to the gateway?

A: It is recommended that device layout be within the radius of 300~500 meters of the gateway, in
order to ensure the stability of data transmission.

3. What is the recommended device heartbeat time?

A: 6 hours.

4. What is the recommended transmission rate for the device?

A: You can use the AN-106 LoRa Tester to test the signal strength to determine the geomagnetic
rate. The closer the signal is to the gateway, the better the rate can be set accordingly.
(SF=7/8/9/10/11/12, the higher the value, the smaller the rate is).

5. Is it necessary to calibrate every device before use?

A: It needs calibrate for first installation. Please make sure there should be no large metal objects
within 3m. If it needs to deploy large amount devices, please arrange enough hands for the jobs .

6. How long does a magnetic charge last?

A: The device has a built-in 19000mA Li-SOCL2battery. Based on occupation status changes 20
times a day and the heartbeat packet 4 times a day, it can be used for 4 years around.

7. If the gateway is restarted or replaced, does the device need to connect network, calibrate and
configure again?
A: The device calibration and configuration are required for the first use. During use, if the
gateway is restarted or replaced, network connection request, calibration and other configuration
are not required. But please make sure that the frequency point used by the gateway is consistent
with that used by the device. Besides, the gateway communicates based on standard LoRaWAN
protocol.

8. How to select the device frequency point?

A: The device frequency point setting should be consistent with that of the gateway. Then it can
be connected and report data to the platform network.

9. Why is the the parking space actual status opposite to the status displayed on the platform?

22

202011
` Technology Co., Ltd.
Shenzhen Winext

A: The cause might be that the device has been impacted by metal interference around during
calibration. Please re-calibrate the device. Please make sure that there is no vehicle in the parking
space and the two adjacent parking space. Besides, there can be no metal interference around.

10. In configuration, there is nothing to return in the message box. What is wrong?

 Please check serial port number, baud rate, data bit, stop bit and calibration bit. They
need to be filled as required
 Please check if it is selected the correct device ID
 Please check if it is run Active and Open serial port operation
 Try to close Winext manage App and run it again

11.During device configuration, the calibration data rolled to a halt halfway and failed to be
calibrated as below:

A: Try to configuration again or try to close Winext manage App and run it again.
