Measuring conditions:
– Preferred mounting position of the system in which the
Smart Element is used
– Nominal operation UP = 24 V DC
– Connection of sensors in 3-wire technology
– All channels are connected

Standard -200 °C +850 °C ±0.8 K ±1.7 K ±0.10% ±0.20 %

MRFV= Measuring range final value

The data contains the offset error, gain error, and linearity error.
To determine the overall tolerance, please also take into consideration the values for temperature drift (see “Technical data”).
All relative tolerance specifications relate to the positive measuring range end value (MEV) of +850 °C).
Typical tolerance values are measured application values that are based on the maximum variance of all test objects.
The maximum tolerance values represent the worst-case measurement inaccuracy. They contain the theoretical maximum
possible tolerances in the corresponding measuring ranges as well as the theoretical maximum possible tolerances of the
calibration and test equipment. The data is valid for at least 24 months from delivery of the module. Thereafter the modules
can be recalibrated by the manufacturer at any time.

7.2 Tolerances when connecting 2-conductor sensors

When connecting 2-conductor sensors, in addition to the values specified above please also take into consideration the
tolerance due to the cable resistance.

16.4 Reset parameterization (002Dhex: ResetParam)

Use this object to reset certain parameters to the factory default settings (default values).
To reset the parameters, value 01hex must be transferred during write access.
Reset the following parameters using this object:

17.1 Harsh environment (0108hex: HarshEnvironment)

Firmware version 1.10 or later.

You can configure the Smart Element with this object for harsh environments to enable use in applications with very high EMC
requirements (significantly higher than the standard limit values). This deactivates the wire-break detection function and
allows for interference-free measurements, even in the case of very high electromagnetic interference.
If you have configured the Smart Element for a harsh environment (object 0108hex = 1), then the permissible sensor
conductor length for the reference conductor type in 3-conductor operation increases to 200 m.

17.2 Response times for diagnostics in the event of a wire break

The following table lists the typical response times for diagnostics if all sensor connection wires are pulled and/or the sensor
conductors are completely interrupted.

“Harsh envi- Setting recommended for Diagnostic message in the process Typical
ronment” set- data response time
ting (object of all channels
0108hex)
0hex Interference coupling within or slightly 8002hex: wire break < 3 s
above the standard level
1hex Interference coupling significantly higher 8001hex: Measuring range exceeded < 3 s
than the standard level (overrange)

The typical response time of the diagnostic messages was determined between the error event and the message
in the process data. The time also includes the transmission of the data to the controller/controller board in the test
system used.
The cable length in the test setup is <1.5 m.

17.3 Response times for diagnostics if single sensor wires are interrupted
The table below lists the typical response times for diagnostics if single sensor wires are interrupted.

“Harsh envi- Setting recommended for Diagnostic message in the process Typical
ronment” set- data response time
ting (object of all channels
0108hex)
0hex Interference coupling within or slightly 8002hex: wire break or U+ < 3 s
above the standard level 8080hex: overrange I+ < 3 s
I- < 3 s
1hex Interference coupling significantly higher 8001hex: overrange or U+ < 3 s
than the standard level 8080hex: underrange I+ < 3 s
I- < 3 s

If the Smart Element is configured for a harsh environment:

Please note that a wire-break diagnosis with the message 8002hex will not be performed in your application if a
single-core wire is broken. Along with the message Overrange 8001hex or Underrange 8080hex, floating measured
values may also arise.

17.4 Wire-break monitoring (0244hex: RTD_WireBreakMonitoring)

Wire-break monitoring is always active. However, you can parameterize whether and how the wire break should be indicated.
You can use this object to parameterize whether or not a wire break should be reported in the diagnostic state object (0018hex:
DiagState) and via LED E. This parameterization has no effect on the mapping of the corresponding diagnostic code to the
input process data.
You can use object 0030hex to parameterize whether or not the corresponding diagnostic code 8002hex should be mapped
to the input process data.
See “Substitute value behavior during I/O error (PDIN) (0030hex: PF_Code)”.
