Pinoy Big Brother does not have much implications when it comes to the political aspect

because it does not endorse any candidates or have anything to do with them. But there were
connected issues such as the resignation of a veteran host Toni Gonzaga because she supported
the newly elected President of the Philippines, Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. and we know
that ABS CBN is a network owned and operated by the Lopezes who support yellow camp. This
in turn is the host's own decision before the start of the campaign period.

Also, during the previous Celebrity Edition of the program, one of the housemates, TJ
Valderrama was subjected to controversy after he was spotted touching and looking at Shanaia
Gomez in an allegedly sexual manner on several occasions by live feed viewers. This resulted in
calls for his immediate removal from the house with the hashtag #ForceEvictTJ trending
nationwide on alongside "Protect Shanaia Gomez." Gabriela Women's Party, a left-wing Filipino
political party which advocates for the protection of women's rights, has also released a
statement calling out the show regarding the issue. Moreover, the show and the housemates
stated that there was nothing wrong happening, and that the viewers should be careful of what
they accuse.

Pinoy Big Brother follows the tagline “Ang Teleserye ng Totoong Buhay,” thus signifying that “sa
bahay ni kuya” authentic characters are involved in genuine situations, PBB is far from being a
mere TV documentary show, since the housemates are manipulated to explore and expose
different aspects of themselves through the daily and weekly tasks. The constantly probing and
oftentimes insinuating questions of kuya in the confession room also lead them into possible
personality conflicts and/or love teams, hence generating more interest for Filipino mass
audiences whose preference for TV fare, based on the proliferation of telenovelas, is certainly
romantic drama. Lastly, the choice of contestants is determined by political economy, for they
are apparently selected based on their potentials as product endorsers, showbiz personalities
and ABS-CBN stars, nothing to do with politics.

Toni Talks is a YouTube talk show where Toni would interview celebrity guests which would
often shed new light on the image of the artist. Netizens would find her show inspiring as they
would admire her wisdom and the pieces of advice that she gives to her guests.

There are interviews in Toni Talks and the host, Toni has interviewed a few running Presidents
of the Philippines. The host Toni remained loose and impartial before she informed the
audience that she and her husband Director Paul Soriano will be supporting the Bongbong
Marcos and Sara Duterte-Carpio’s UniTeam.

The veteran host got a lot of criticism and ridicule from netizens but she ignored it because it
will go against what UniTeam wants to happen; the unity and undisturbed candidate.

However, the purpose of Toni Talks is to convey that their guests will be recognized and able to
inspire viewers, bring awareness to conflicts, to provide information, and to entertain.
