Supplemental Restraint System

Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) safety belt to achieve the best rider protection
and to leverage all advantages of SRS system.
Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
is designed to protect the driver on the front
seat from impact. In addition, it also includes the
three-point safety belt.It is necessary to use the Air bag SRS consists of the following components:

Front Passenger’s Air Bag
At the moment of the accident, it effectively
protects the head and chest of the front passenger
from hitting the windshield and the dashboard.
Coiled cable
To ensure the turning range of the steering wheel
without damaging the connection harness of the
air bag assembly, coiled harness is used between
the steering wheel and the steering post, that is,
the harness is installed in a coiled spring.
Sensor
Senior is one of the key components in the air bag
system, which is designed to detect and identify
the impact signals when the crash occurred, in
order to decide whether it is necessary to inflate the
cushioning air bag. The sensor is integrated in ECU.
Air Generator
The air bag system requires the air generator to
generate plenty of air to inflate the air bags in short
time (about 30ms). Meanwhile, the generated air
should be free of harm and high temperature, while
the air generator should be reliable and steady.
Air Bag
Made of nylon, the air bag is coated with
polychloroprene, to seal the air inside. When
not in use, the air bag is folded into a small bag
and placed between the upper part of the air
generator and the air bag cover. The air bag
cover is slightly embossed, so that the air bag can
easily break the cover and expand once inflated.
There is an exhaust hole at the back or on the top
of the air bag. When the driver/passenger dumps
at the air bag, the air is exhausted from the hole.
Air bag ECU
The core of the entire system, which analyzes
and compares the information from the
acceleration sensor, then accurately and quickly
decides whether to send the inflation command.
When the vehicle is heavily hit, the acceleration

Warning about Restraint System Diagnosis Tool

WARNING: The restraint system diagnosis

tool can only be used during repair. It
must be removed before the vehicle
comes to road. Otherwise it may lead to
personal injury and/or breach vehicle
safety rules.
Diagnose the failure mentioned by customer
with response failure diagnosis codes
Most of the supplemental restraint system
diagnosis procedures require the system to
switch between function disable and enable, or
between power down and up. Function disable
and enable need to disconnect most of SRS
components and install the restraint system
diagnosis tool. Power down and up need to
disconnect the battery and remove the fuse.
Thus, it minimizes the risks of SRS component
explosion caused by negligence during the
operation of the diagnosis procedure. SRS
diagnosis and test require the restraint system
diagnosis tool. Short circuit is not allowed when
the air bag ECU is connected to a jumper. If the
jumper is short to the air bag ECU, the Indicator
will send the failure signal.
System Verification
Turn the ignition switch from “OFF” to “ON”. Look
at the monitor and observe the air bag alert lamp
with air bag module and safety bag pre-tensioner
or installed restraint system diagnosis tool. The
air bag alert lamp flashes 3-5 seconds and then
stays off. If there is any failure in the air bag SRS
system, the alert lamp will show some signals.
Please refer to “Indicator Identification” in
this section for more information.

1. Verify the problems the customer mentioned
and perform inspections accordingly.
2. Check whether there is visible mechanical
or electrical damage.
