1.1. Object

This specification has the object of establishing the technical requirements which the
design and execution of the fencing or enclosures to be built in the Plant must meet.

1.2. Scope

This specification is applicable to all sets of material elements which try to prevent the
access, due to safety reasons, to certain areas of the Plant. Generally they are provided
peripherally, coinciding with property limits, in which case all elements which make-up the
fence must remain inside such limits.

The minimum nominal diameter will be 2.5 mm.

3.3. Resisting concrete

It will be H-175, per EH-91, with specified characteristic strength in compression fck= 175
kp/cm2, unless otherwise shown in project drawings.

Compaction will be in all cases by vibration in mass.

3.4. Lean concrete

4. FENCING

4.1. Description

The fences will be of standard type mesh with front plates tied to pipe posts and with three
horizontal lines of barbed wire placed 500 mm above the mesh.

The fences will follow the contours of the ground and they will be installed according to
project drawings.

Fencing will be elevated 2 m above the ground (2.50 m including the extension arms and
the 3 lines of barbed wire).

4.2. Post bases

The concrete for post foundations of the fences will have a characteristic strength at 28
days of not less than 175 kp/cm2 (H-175) and slump of no more than 70 mm.

4.3. Posts

The posts for fences will be of galvanized pipe , 60.3 mm in diameter with a minimum wall
thickness of 1.75 mm. Every ten posts, a tensing post will be placed.

All posts will have extension arms to support the three lines of galvanized barbed wire, at
equal intervals.

The end, corner and tensing posts will be fixed in a suitable manner to each line adjacent
post, using a steel pipe stirrup at the top as compression element and a diagonal bar of
adjustment as bracing element. The pipe diameter will be 41.5 mm with a minimum wall
thickness of 2 mm.

The posts will have a minimum depth of 650 mm inside the concrete block. The concrete
blocks will have minimum dimensions of 400 x 400 x 750 mm.

The posts next to rotating doors for vehicles will consists of 2 UPN-160 profiles welded to
form a square section and they will have a minimum depth of 900 mm inside the plain
concrete base. The concrete bases will have, in these cases, a depth of 1100 mm.

Reinforcing or corner posts will be installed at the points where the slope of the fencing
line is equal or more then 30º.

The posts, arms and stirrups will be lined with a hot-dip galvanizing layer, equivalent to
460 g/m2 minimum.

4.4. Mesh

The mesh shall be of the industrial type, of 50 x 50 mm, and a minimum wire diameter of
2.5 mm.

The mesh will have three tensing horizontal wires (top, intermediate and bottom), which
minimum diameter will be 3 mm.

The mesh wire and the tensors will carry a hot-dip galvanizing layer equivalent to 244
g/m2 of surface.

4.5. Barbed wire

The top part of the fence will have three galvanized barbed wire lines.

The lines will be formed by 2 strings of 2.5 mm minimum diameter with 4 points of pins
located at 100 mm intervals. The barbed wire will be lined with a minimum layer of hot-dip
galvanizing equivalent to 244 g/m2.

5.1. General

The type, number and location of doors will be shown on project drawings.

The electronic operated doors with remote control will be provided with a manual
operation limiting key.

The manual operation doors will be provided with a lock and they will operate as part of
the master key system.

The posts adjacent to doors will be connected in the top and bottom parts with the next
post by means of a 60.3 mm diameter pipe and they will be tensed outside the door
opening.

5.2. Sliding doors for vehicles

These doors will be built as a single sliding element with a compensating mechanism to
facilitate manual operation. Their dimensions will be shown on the project drawings.

The doors will be mounted on steel wheels of 100 mm diameter which in turn may move
on a steel rail with stops at the end of the runs. The doors will be mounted inside the
peripheral fencing line.

The doors will consist of a steel structure of square section or of pipes with vertical bars.

5.3. Rotating doors for vehicles

The rotating doors will have two leaves of 2 m height and a crossing width equal to that
shown on the drawings. Each leaf will have 3 hinges.

The doors will consist of a peripheral pipe structure with a mesh inside such perimeter and
they will have at the top part three barbed wire rigid strings at equal intervals among them,
resulting in a total height of the door of 2.5 m.

The lining of the door wire mesh will be identical to the lining used in the adjacent fencing.

The doors will be of manual operation, but adapted to automatic operation.

The doors will be mounted without resting on the floor and they will be capable of rotating
180º.

5.4. Pedestrian crossing doors

These doors will have a free width of 0.9 m and they will be built with framing having 60,3
mm diameter pipes, with an intermediate profile similar to the peripheral ones located at
0.9 m above ground level. All doors will rotate 180º.

The doors will be placed between two tensing posts.

The doors will have a height of 2 m and will have at the top part three wire lines
(galvanized) at equal intervals, resulting in a total door height of 2.5 m.

All doors will have a single lock with three keys which will be part of the master key
system of the Plant.

6. ERECTION

6.1. Location

The location of the fencing will be in accordance with the coordinates indicated on the
project drawings and will not deviate more than 15 mm from the lines specified for fencing.
The fences will follow the contour of the finished ground, between this grade level and the
lower part of the fence there will be no more than 50 mm.

6.2. Excavation

The excavation for the post bases will have vertical walls. Before pouring the concrete,
the excavation bottom must be compacted. The excavation material of the post pit will
extend throughout the length of the fence and with a maximum depth of 25 mm.

6.3. Concrete works

The concrete will be poured immediately after installation of the posts using the ground as
formwork.

If it is necessary, the water existing in the post base pits will be eliminated before starting
to pour concrete.

The foundation concrete must be allowed to set during a minimum of 48 hours before
tying the fence mesh and a minimum of 72 hours before tensing the corner and door posts
wire.

6.4. Installation

The works will be executed under the supervision of duly qualified and experienced
personnel and they must be performed according to the good practice of construction.

Three tensing wires will be installed before tying the fence mesh.

TECNICAS REUNIDAS, S.A. TITLE DATE 26/05/00

Galvanizing will be inspected according to Standard ASTM A-90 and/or the UNE 37
503/504/505 standards.

Upon arriving on site, all materials will be subjected to the corresponding approval.

Likewise, the necessary laboratory tests will be performed to ensure that the materials
comply with the required qualities.
