Clean-Up
Drive
a program aimed at cleaning up the
campus following the CSC week
Reflection
While taking a medical course, I understood that
keeping our surroundings clean is critical to an
individual's health and the health of the community. I
noticed a lot of trash around campus so over CSC
days, which is quite concerning for me because I
know the impact it has on our health. When our
instructor announced that a clean-up drive would be
held as part of one of our community immersions, I
was overjoyed because we, the students of NSTP-
2, who are mostly medical students, were given the
opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness of our
community, Mountain View College. It was a fun
experience for me because I was able to spend time
with my friends while also keeping our community
clean.

Why is community outreach important in
education?

These community outreach opportunities

provide ways for students to make a
difference in someone else's life and
realize the beauty of selflessness.
Students who spend time volunteering and
working with others realize it can be up to
them to make a change to social injustices

Reflection
Through our community outreach, we student researchers can practice helping others while preparing to be future
health professionals. This experience has been really rewarding for me because I realized how an ordinary
experience may be made spectacular by simply assisting the less fortunate and making them happy, even if only for
a short time. . Even though it was only for three days, the smiles that the community members offered us will live on
in my heart. It wasn't the food or the donations we provided that made the outreach unforgettable, but the smiles on
their faces did. Seeing those smiles reassured me that our outreach program has been a success and was
worthwhile.

Jay Cada Quote of the Day

A donation of blood means a few
minutes to you, but a lifetime for
somebody else.

Reflection
Being a blood donor requires both
generosity and bravery.

I was unable to donate blood due to my

inability to meet the weight
requirements. Thankfully, I was able to
invite a buddy who is far more willing to
donate blood and save lives than I am.
Kudos to this friend of mine!

A single donation can save three lives.
One blood donation provides different blood components that can help up
to three different people. Blood cannot be manufactured. Despite medical
and technological advances, blood cannot be made, so donations are the
only way we can give blood to those who need it.

Recycling programs also contribute to the overall health and well-

being of a community. Sustainable companies, or corporations that
use recycled materials, will be more likely to establish ties or open
up branches in a town that has a vested interest in recycling.
Fewer landfills means better property values, as well as the
knowledge that your community is actually working to mitigate
global warming. Communities that actively recycle send the
message that they really do care about the environment.
