ETHICS

I. From the 15 principles for an excellent work ethics choose two and explain the importance of your
two chosen principle. 15 points each.

1. Be culturally sensitive

This work ethics is important because it allows you to be aware, mindful and to accept different culture that
your co-workers have in your company. We all know that every people have their own set of beliefs and
cultures which is either the same or different from what we practice, so therefore sometimes what we may
see as a negative practice for us doesn’t necessarily mean that it is also a negative action for them, and this
is where conflicts and arguments starts to arise. This is also where you might not feel sharing space with
others because you don’t have the same set of beliefs and practices. But if you are culturally aware, you have
the knowledge and respect among other people with different culture from yours, and you don’t set a barrier
that creates a disparity in your workplace, instead, you start to value other cultures in your workplace and
you also see it as a way to enrich each other’s minds and lives. To sum it all up, if a person is not culturally
sensitive with other people in their workplace, they may start to distance their selves among co-workers and
sometimes will lead on creating conflicts and disrespectfulness towards other, but if one is culturally aware,
he/she will maintain a positive workplace that maintains respect and will surely create also a good
relationship among other people within the same company and later this will allow all of you to function
properly, perform your tasks effectively and worry free, and most of all maintains a workplace with a good
relationship that will let all of you to grow in your careers.

2. Always put the company first

Putting the company first in your priority list means that you really value your work. It is important because
it also means that you love your work and you are willing to give your best to the company. Doing this work
ethics will allow you to accomplish your tasks on time and responsibly, it will also create a good reputation
of you in your workplace. This ethics is commonly seen on times when you need to choose between
different interests or for example when your friends invited you for some party but you have your own work
that you need to accomplish. This is when you will start thinking the different outcomes of whatever
decision you will choose, but if you always prioritize the company first, you won’t have any second thought
to join your friends in the party because you will choose to finish your work first, because you know this is
the right thing to do first and this is the choice that will benefit you the most.

The importance of this work ethics isn’t only visible on the situation mention above; it also arises during
times when you choose decisions for the company instead of your self-interest first. Maintaining this ethics
will also prevent you in committing fraud in your workplace because you know in your mind that you
greatly value your company above all. Another importance of this work ethics is that when you always out
your company first, you are assured to have a productive career as it will maintain your focus and prevent
you on being refrained by different distractions and this will also allow you to concentrate on achieving your
main goal which is for the progress of the company which you are working for.
