17. Anchor 1 : While Millennials are still regarded as the most powerful age group by many,
Generation Z has started moving into the world spotlight and mind you, they have their
own set of preferences which significantly influence life patterns.

18. (Video clips of the news) According to the Generation Z Statistics 2022, Gen Zers make
up 26% of the global population. The Gen Z age group currently occupies a little over
one-quarter of the global population. That translates to 2 billion Gen Zers worldwide, and
data shows this already is the largest cohort alive. On the other hand, National Statistics
reports that millennials and Gen Z constitute around 70 percent of the Philippines
population and about 40 million Gen Z Filipinos comprise the biggest segment of it.

19. Anchor 1 : Generation Z population are the first digitally native age group, born between
1997-2012, following millennials. With the help of Globalization, Gen Z was born into a
world of peak technological innovation — where information was immediately accessible
and social media increasingly ubiquitous.

22. Anchor 2 : Welcome Back Philippines, you are still watching News Z Chattish

(Ibang angle ng cam)

23. Anchor 2 : Series of survey reports said that youth mental Health is under global risk,
For further details, we have our reporter Mosang (surname) with us. Mosang, kindly tell
us more about the mental health of our new generation.

24. News Reporter : Yes Marites. Specific findings and predictions for young people from
the Global Risks Report are troubling. These include a deterioration of mental health
since the start of the pandemic, leaving 80% of young people across the globe
vulnerable to depression, anxiety and disillusionment, and making them targets for
radicalization.

25. (Video clips) Of the 10 immediate risks listed in 2021 year’s World Economic Forum
Global Risks Report, the one most likely to be overlooked is number eight – “youth
disillusionment”. According to the report, the result of young people facing their second
global crisis in a decade is, at best, temporary disruption and disillusionment and, at
worst, permanent scarring and lost opportunity.

26. (Video clips) According to the World Health Organization, Gen Z's mental health were
at risk due to many factors including climate crisis, inequality, violence and other social
disruptions. Technology plays a role, too. Growing up in a hyper-connected world can
evoke intense feelings of isolation and loneliness in some youth. It can also fuel a
steady drumbeat of negative news stories, a fear of missing out, and shame in falling
short of a social media-worthy standard.

27. News reporter : Mosang (surname) , reporting on News Z CHATTISH.

28. Anchor 2 : Thank you Mosang, However, while, Generation Z has been called the
most depressed generation, members of this group are more likely than their older peers
to seek out mental health counseling or therapy.
29. ( Video clips) According to the report of American Psychological Association, some 37%
of Gen Zers — a higher rate than any previous generation — report having worked with
a mental health professional.

30. Anchor 2 : While not all of these findings are easily undone, there is an opportunity to
build resilience. And there has never been a more important time to understand what
that is and to equip young people to meet the challenges they face.

31. Anchor 1 : Meanwhile, the Filipino Gen Z are often branded as apathetic to political and
social issues, uncritical, and susceptible to disinformation. However, as we have
witnessed and continually seen in the region and across the globe, the fact is that the
youth are standing up and resisting against neoliberal and authoritarian regimes and
building alternatives for systemic change. For further details of this news, we have our
reporter Dieza (surname) live at Laguna

32. News Reporter 2 : This year 2022 series of campaign rallies, projects and protests have
happened in the country of the Philippines organized by the youth, particularly the
Zoomers generation or the Gen Z. They are actively reclaiming their stake in society and
the future through climate strikes, peace marches, grassroots protests, and transnational
solidarity initiatives.

33. (video clips) In this recent 2022 election, despite the demands of schoolwork, students
are not just standing on the sidelines this election season, the spirit of volunteerism is on
full display, with youth volunteers going as far as crossing rivers and rice paddies to visit
far-flung barangays, rain or shine, just to campaign for their chosen bets.

34. (Video clips ko kunyare nagsasalita na walang sounds) Youth volunteer Macxin Soriano
from Laguna said that she actively joined house to house campaign not just to promote
her bet but also to emphasize the importance of good governance

35. Macxin: "I joined house to house campaign that time na may election because youth like
me will be the ones who will bear the results of it, and hindi ako sumama lang sa h2h
campaign ng dahil lang gusto ko na makilala ng iba yung partido na pinaniniwalaan ko
but also because I am campaigning for good governance, transparency, and
accountability in government,”

36. Soriano also pointed out the youth is not apathetic at all , if their voice will be heard.

37. Macxin : "Our generation our not apathetic as most of people say, there are young
people who are standing up and fighting to change the system like me, kaso ang
problem ano mang ingay namin, hindi kame napapakinggan kaya yung iba samin pinili
na lang wag magsalita"
38. (Video clips ng newly elected govt officials) She is hoping that the new government
today will be able to give a platform so that the concerns of the youth will be heard.

39. News reporter: Meanwhile, after the election numerous rallies have happened in the
country. Protests against rights, electoral fraud and the electoral system in the country
as a whole was being condemned by students in different Universities. This is Dieza
