2 100% of a number is equal to the number itself. 10%, 1%, and 0.1% of this number can be obtained by successively dividing the given number by 10.

Example 1: Consider the number 122.

• 100% of 122 = 122

• 10% of 122 = = 12.2

Example 2: 21.3% of 122.

= (20 + 1 + 0.3)% × 122

= 2 × 10% × 122 + 1% × 122 + 3 × 0.1% ×122

= 2 × 12.2 + 1.22 + 3 × 0.122

= 24.400 + 1.220 + 0.366

= 25.986
