III. Rationale

The Department of Education (DepEd) is central in the safekeeping of lives and thus
plays an active role in the nation’s effort in Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM). The
department’s unified DRRM in Basic Education Framework displays three pillars: safe learning
facilities, school disaster management, and disaster risk reduction in education.
School must provide facilities that will prevent the effect of man-made or naturals
disasters. In doing so, we can create society who are knowledgeable, resilient and ready to any
disaster.

IV. Objective
1. To provide safety and security facilities:
-emergency exits
-pedestrian lane marking
-loading and unloading signs
-stop and go signs
-signs for the physically impaired
2. To provide equipment for disaster preparedness
-handheld radio
-megaphone
-posters, evacuation map, hazard map and vicinity map
-signages
-fire extinguishers
3. To implement the following programs:
-School Waste Management program
-Health Advocacy Program
-Conducting Wash and Health Activities
