After taking a few holistic health self-assessment quizzes, I can confidently say that I

have overall okay health, although I admit that I don’t lead the healthiest lifestyle that I could. I
was under the impression that my health was satisfactory based on the fact that I stay active and
generally watch what I eat, however these self-assessment quizzes made me realize I've been
neglecting certain aspects of my health. A major improvement I would love to make is to take
better care of my mental health and seek therapy to experience what kind of professional help is
offered. I would also like to find a way to change my sleeping pattern to a reasonable schedule
that coincides with each other. I’m honestly not sure how I can solve this problem of mine since I
already have problems falling asleep and need this job, but I am open to new methods that could
help. I find that my mood and energy levels are both affected by the sleep problem, as well as
binge eating.I find myself stress eating and pushing myself hard in the gym to try to make up for
the damage. I would love to implement a balanced diet and a way to relieve stress to help avoid
this problem. Lastly, I want to focus on improving my intellectual health because I believe it is
important to continuously grow and learn, which I am already working on by taking this class.
One article I found online about holistic health discusses five different categories that you
can reflect on and see where you need to improve. This article offers a wide array of options of
how to improve your own life, one solution suggested on improving intellectual health is to
“learn to play bridge, paint, or play a musical instrument” Solan (2018). The next article I found
focuses on ten different ways to improve your sleep and suggest natural remedies that has
already helped others get a good night's sleep. Some of his suggestions were to cut down on
spicy and cold food and to “Practice deep, easy breathing in bed” (Mishra). The last article I am
citing lists numerous ways to clean up your diet and achieve a healthy body weight. A key point
I picked up on why it is important to take care of your physical health is because it can “prevent
cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in
Americans” (Lichtenstein 2006).
