Personal Prescription Paper Final Submission

Self Assessment

When it comes to wellness, there are eight categories to keeping our bodies healthy. There is

emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, financial, intellectual, physical, occupational, and

social wellness. My self-assessment indicates that I am unfavorable in professional fulfillment,

favorable burnout related to published studies, unfavorable self-evaluation, favorable level of

sleep-related impairment, and minimal impact on personal relationships from work (4).Out of all

of the wellness categories, my physical, mental, spiritual, and physical need to be improved.

Ways to Improve or Maintain Your Current Health

After reviewing my health self-assessment, I need to work more on my self-evaluation and

favorable level of sleep-related impairment. It seems like I need to work on my physical health

and mental health. These factors are important to be healthy in the long run. I do not think I’m

the best in some situations, I think I am the worst outcome. A way I can improve this way of

thinking is to not think too much of the negative. I won’t let the negative impact ruin my day. I

will result in a positive thinking matter, the bright side of every situation. According to, Self

Esteem, written by Todd Woodfill, he says to “not compare yourself to others, identify your

strengths, be open to change, be realistic, keep it positive, and take a social media detox (5).

I take daily naps but I noticed it started to get out of hand when the naps lasted about 2-3 hours.

According to, Sleep Tips: 6 Steps to Better Sleep, the Mayo Clinic Staff, said to stick to a sleep
schedule, pay attention to what we consume, limit daytime naps, include physical activities, and

manage our worries (2). Following these steps can help me improve my physical health and

mental health. Allowing my body to rest for 8-9 hours can help me stay awake during the day,

control my emotions, and reduce stress levels. Sleep is a major importance to a healthy diet and a

healthy diet can result in a happier life.

Importance of Sustaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Sustaining a healthy lifestyle is important if you want a long-lasting life span. Choosing a

healthy balanced lifestyle will keep our future generation natural and prevent health problems

such as chronic diseases. There are many ways to keep our future generation natural. We can

improve our air quality by adjusting our daily lifestyles. Improving our air quality conserves

natural resources, improves community health, and reduces climate change. Our world is

changing very rapidly because of climate change and it is hard for our environment and animals

to adapt. There are many simple steps to sustain a healthy lifestyle but none of it matters if we

don’t sustain our six dimension wheel of wellness first.

3 Goals to Improve a Healthy Lifestyle (Describe each Goal in detail)

First, a way I can adjust my spiritual wellness in a more positive aspect is to keep a journal

around me to write my thoughts down. It can be a better alternative to write down how angry or

sad I feel instead of taking it out on my loved ones. Lashing out at others can affect my

occupation and relationships over time. According to “Spiritual Wellness, Holistic Health, and

the Practice of Health Education,” Steven Hawks says, “This article argues that spiritual health is

an underlying dimension that contributes to social and emotional health, which in turn motivates

health behavior changes that determine physical and intellectual health (1).” Improving my
spiritual wellness will help improve my bad habits in social, emotional, physical, and intellectual

health. Allowing myself to heal will open up more opportunities and happiness in my life.

A way I can fix my intellectual health, other than journaling my thoughts, is to express a

traditional Chinese belief called Tian Di Ren He Yi. According to “Wisdom from the East:

Holistic Theory and Practice of Health & Wellness” the author, Di Xu says, “Through this

process, the patient needs to change his or her behaviors and thinking patterns, and

way of living to truly heal. The patient and his or her family are a collective group of

participants, who make adjustments internally and externally to strive for balance, harmony,

good health, and peace. This unique way of treatment often is less intrusive for the human body,

less expensive with sustainable natural resources, more effective for chronic illnesses and

“incurable” conditions (4).” Changing my behavior and thinking patterns can improve my

intellectual health. Thinking more positively and aiming for balance, harmony, good health, and

peace can also improve my other factors regarding health. Believing in these factors can cleanse

my inner self and make me happier. I believe starting to believe the positive side of things will

give me an eye-opening lesson that will stick with me throughout life. I do believe this method

will be a key factor in having a long-lasting life.

Finally, a way I can improve my physical health is by inputting my progress through an app.

According to “Toward Public Health Wellness: Psychosocial & Physical Health in the

Community.” Won Ju Hwang states, “ These apps cover breathing training, meditation, and

music therapy. Stress, depression, and anxiety were found to decrease when using these apps,

and some were effective in improving well-being (3).” These apps can improve a lifestyle.

Tracking my progress will keep me motivated and organized. It allows me to look back on my

old physique and aim towards my goal for my new physique. Not only does it help improve my
physical health, but it also decreases stress, depression, and anxiety. This helps benefit our

mental and intellectual health. It is a great investment to help live a healthy lifestyle.

Conclusion

Overall, after reviewing the different articles about how to improve my lifestyle, I have

developed new goals for myself. Each goal I mentioned not only benefits its category but also

helps out another category. For example, how organizing my progression on a fitness app can

reduce my mental health. All these goals will help me get to my goal of having a healthy

lifestyle.
