Health Reflection

Many different things can be related to health in regard to how someone attempts to

analyze it. However, what health means to me mostly encompasses the wellbeing of an

individual. This can either encompass both mental and physical health, as many

characteristics intertwine with each other. Health is an important aspect of our daily life,

which is why it is important to focus on the many different types of health. According to

the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, there are eight

dimensions of wellness. The eight dimensions are labeled as: emotion, environmental,

financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. Health is important in

the sense that it allows us to live more fit and positive lives. All these aspects are the

reasons why I view the importance of health and why it is necessary to start creating a

positive impact on our life. Much of the attempts that I make to improve my health first

come from me realizing much of the obstacles that I encounter every day. I often come

from my job at Subway either stressed or tired from much of the work that I usually do.

Therefore, I make time throughout the week to take a break and rest in order to improve

the wellness of my health. During this time, I would choose to utilize aspects from the

occupational dimension of wellness by engaging in personal fulfillment and enrichment.

Another healthy habit that I would participate in is to sleep earlier than I usually would to

gain an adequate amount of sleep. Part of the time that I have been making room for, to

improve my health has now been saved for physical activity as well. These activities can

range from spending time to workout or to go for a wall throughout town. Despite all

these positive aspects relating to health reflection, there are various aspects that I can

improve upon. An example can be improving my emotional wellness with my family and

friends at school. I can also improve my social wellness by developing my relationships

with those around me and emphasize more on creating positive interactions. Overall,

much of these issues that serve as obstacles towards improving my mental and physical

health are things that I wish to improve upon in the future. Many of the details provided

by the SAMHS, showcase aspects of health that are often overlooked when people seek

to find ways to improve their wellness. In conclusion, health is important to me because it

is a necessary component in our daily lives that helps us improve our overall wellness

and create positive relationships.
