Captive lord of Ayabaca.

A Spanish priest in the year 1751, García Guerrero wanted to give his people an image of the Lord; for which it was
decided to use a trunk, from which blood had flowed after a farmer gave it an ax blow. It was from a cedar tree,
found on the Zahumerio hill in Jililí.
Three men dressed in impeccable white wool ponchos arrived at the town of Ayabaca. They trotted on three spirited
albino horses. They were carving artists. And they promised to carve the image of the Captive Lord on condition that
the people would keep absolute reservations about his presence. In addition, no one should interrupt them during
their work and food would be served only at dawn.
No villager should see them work.
Time passed and the curiosity of the Ayabaquinos was stronger than their patience. They wanted to see the work
progress of the three mysterious knights. The villagers approached the house, called insistently and, getting no
answer, they thought they had been made fun of. Then they forced the door. There was no one inside and the food
was untouched. But before them rose, imposing and majestic, the sculpture of a Nazarene with his hands crossed.
Only then did they realize that the authors were angels dressed as horsemen who, at the end of the sculpture, took
flight and were lost. The story grew, as did faith and devotion, even more so if they considered all of this a "work of
angels"; what they called it
On the central day of the festival (October 13), the beautiful image of one meter eighty in height is carried in
procession through the streets of the town. The streets of said tour are previously carpeted with flowers, music
from the area and dances with multicolored clothing adorn it.
