GENERAL INFORMATION

Subject Matter: Practical Research 2

Grade Level: 12

Quarter: First

Topic: Types of Variables in Research

Week No. & Lesson Week 3

Duration: 4 Days

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the nature of variables.

Performance The learner is able to decide on suitable quantitative research in

Standard: different areas of interest.
Learning Differentiates kinds of variables and their uses.
Competency:

Learning Objectives: Students will be able to:

 Identify the different types of variables in research.
 Express the relationship of the specific variables
used in research.
 Provide examples for each type of variable.
 Conceptualize quantitative research titles.
Essential Questions: 1. How can we identify different variables in the world around us?

2. How can we apply our understanding of the different variables

to real- life scenarios?

Motivational Activity: Students will be shown a clip from the Brgy. Guisguis Sk Online
Contest “Tiktok Fundemic Dance Challenge.” They will watch a
dancer perform and see the scores of the judges after the
performance.

After the clip, students will be asked, “Based on the judges’ scores
and your prior knowledge, what factors do you think influenced the
dancer’s score?” [e.g., what variables does the score depend on?
What factors will cause the score to increase? Decrease?]

(other shows which illustrate cause-effect can be substituted)

This will be a fun and interesting way to introduce the topic. In

particular, it will show students that variables specifically
independent and dependent variables can be found in the world
around us.
Lesson Proper: Present the lesson to the students,
Types of Variables
 Numerical
 Categorical
 Experimental

Let them analyze each presentation through the pictures presented

on the screen.

Let the students give their own examples on the different types of
variables presented.

Application: “Which is Which?” Classify the given variables.

“Dependent or Independent?” Identify the independent and

dependent variables in the following statements.

Generalization: “Pass the Microphone”

To make sure that the lesson is learned, the teacher will call
students to answer and complete these statement:

“Knowing the different types of Variables is important because…..”

Evaluation: “Let’s Conceptualize!”
Think of 3 research titles you are interested to conduct or
according to your area of specialization. One of these titles will be
your final working title that you will be conducting for the rest of
the semester.

“Where are your Variables?”

Using your 3 research titles, write the variables used and identify
its kind/type.
Assignment: Write down 3 things that you have learned from this week’s topic
and 1 word to represent this week’s learning session.

Annotation:

Localization and contextualization assume that students learn best when classroom
experiences have meaning and relevance to their life. The learning that is everlasting
consists of the actions and associations of pupils. Utilizing the highlighted portion of the
lesson, the teacher describes Localization and Conceptualization as an instructional
method.
