LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

I- OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson students are able to:

a. Illustrates interior, exterior, alternate interior, alternate exterior, and corresponding

angles.
b. Determines the angles formed when two lines are cut by a transversal line.
c. Identifies the angles formed between two lines.

II- SUBJECT MATTER:

a. Topic: Parallel Lines and Transversals

b. Reference: DepEd Self- Learning Module (SLM) Mathematics Q3
c. Author: Karl Jio S. Balaba
d. Materials: Laptop/Power Point Presentation

III- PROCEDURE:

a. Preparation:
* Prayer
* Checking Attendance

b. Review:

(Before we proceed to the lesson let’s have a review for the Angle Pairs)

Write TRUE if the statement is true. Otherwise, write FALSE

TRUE 1. Two intersecting lines form two pairs of vertical angles.

TRUE 2. Supplementary angles are two angles whose sum is 180⁰

FALSE 3. Two angles whose sum is 90⁰ are called a linear pair.

FALSE 4. Congruent angles are two angles with a common vertex and a common side.

TRUE 5. A linear pair is both adjacent and complementary.

c. Presentation of the Lesson:

PARALLEL LINES – are coplanar lines that do not intersect.

Example: EF is the transversal of AB and CD.

E

A B
AB and CD
are parallel lines
C D
F

TRANSVERSAL – creates different types of angle pairs.

Example:
To illustrate, let M be the transversal of lines X and Y.

a. First, identify the exterior angles and interior angles

Exterior Angles: < 1, < 2, < 7, and < 8 M

Interior Angles: < 3, < 4, < 5, and < 6

1 2
4 3 X

5 6
8 7 Y

ANGLE PAIRS:

1. Corresponding Angles: < 1 and < 5, < 4 and < 8

< 2 and < 6, < 3 and < 7

2. Alternate Exterior Angles: < 1 and < 7, < 2 and < 8

3. Alternate Interior Angles: < 4 and < 6, < 3 and < 5

4. Same- side Exterior Angles: < 1 and < 8, < 2 and < 7

5. Same- side Interior Angles: < 4 and < 5, < 3 and < 6
When two parallel lines are cut by a transversal:
 The corresponding angles are CONGRUENT.
 The alternate exterior angles are CONGRUENT.
 The alternate interior angles are CONGRUENT.
 The same- side exterior angles are SUPPLEMENTARY.
 The same- side interior angles are SUPPLEMENTARY.
d. Application:

Identify the angles asked in each item.

1. All interior angles C

< 2, < 6, < 3, and < 7

2. All exterior angles 1 5 A

2 6
< 1, < 5, < 4, and < 8
3 7
3. 4 pairs of corresponding angles B
< 1 and < 3, < 5 and < 7 4 8
< 2 and < 4, < 6 and < 8

4. 2 pairs of alternate interior angles

< 2 and < 7, < 3 and < 6

5. 2 pairs of alternate exterior angles

< 1 and < 8, < 4 and < 5

IV- EVALUATION:
Write TRUE if the statement is true. Otherwise, write FALSE

X
FALSE 1. < 1 and < 7 are corresponding angles.
TRUE 2. < 4 and < 6 are alternate interior angles. 1 2
TRUE 3. < 2 and < 7 are same- side exterior angles.
Y
TRUE 4. < 5 and < 8 are supplementary. 4 3
FALSE 5. < 3 and < 6 are congruent.
5 6 Z
8 7
V- ASSIGNMENT/ AGREEMENT:

A. Lines A and B are cut by a transversal C and M < 5 is 98⁰. Assume that A//B. Find the measure of all the other
angles.

M < 1 = 98⁰ M < 5 = 98⁰

C
M < 2 = 82⁰ M < 6 = 82⁰
1 2
M < 3 = 98⁰ M < 7 = 98⁰ A
4 3
M < 4 = 82⁰ M < 8 = 82⁰
5 6 B
