Carry out measurements and calculation

Defined
This unit of competency carry out measurements and
calculations, forms part of certificate II in Building and
Construction (Pathway-Trades), pre-vocational course
for learners seeking to gain an apprenticeship in the
building in the building and construction industry. The
focus of this course is on developing relevant
technical, vocational and intrapersonal competencies
as well as skills, knowledge and experiences that may
be transferable to other industry areas. Learners will
also gain employability skills relevant to an entry level
employee of the industry.

What is measurements and calculation?

In the second component of the course, typically

undertaken in the second year of study, learners will
choose from 10 trade-specific streams of units of
competency that enable them focus their learning on a
particular trade such as bricklaying, painting or
carpentry.

To progress further in the industry, beyond this

introductory level, learners will then need to gain
apprenticeship in their chosen trades area, or pursue
further training within the building and construction
field.

Guide Question:

What is measurements and calculation?

Give at least five (5) measurements carry out.

How many classifications of calculation are there?

What material reinforces the structure of measurements

materials to carry out?

carry out?
 Which is common calculation?
 What are four power of measurements?
 How many types of calculation are there?
 What are the calculation to carry out?

E. Developing Mastery (Leads to Write the substitution for the following ingredients.
Formative Assessment 3) Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.
1. 1/4-1/3 cup Dry bread crumbs
2. 1C Coconut milk

10. 1 cup Confectioners/powdered sugar
F. Finding practical applications Group activity- Inspection time

Directions: This is a group work.

1. Gather different manuals (photocopies) and classify
them according to types.
2. Find out the commonalities of manuals in each type
in terms of major parts/sections, signs and symbols
used, and healthy tips or precautionary measures.
3. Also, find out the latest updates in each of the
manuals by taking into account the publication date
and version.

Be ready to report your output to the class for

What is measurement and calculation to

carry out?

Different types of calculation and

measurement to use(Give 6 essentials
tools)
I. Evaluate Learning Markup is the difference between how much an item
costs you, and how much you sell that item for--it's
Differentiated Activity your profit per item. Any person working in business
or retail will find the skill of being able to calculate
markup percentage very valuable.
Instructions
1. Calculate your peso markup. This is done by
subtracting your buying price from your selling price.
Example
Selling price 15.00
Purchase cost/buying price - 10.00
Peso markup 5.00
2. Decide whether you want to calculate your
percentage markup based on cost or selling price.
Once you choose which you will be using to calculate,
it is important you stick to the method you choose
throughout all your calculations, or you will end up
with faulty data. If you decide to calculate your
percent markup based on cost, go on to Step 3. If you
decide to calculate your percent markup based on
selling price, go on to Step 4.
3. Calculate percent markup based on cost. This is
done by dividing the peso markup by the cost.
Example
Additional Application for renovation Peso markup 5.00
Purchase cost/buying price ÷10.00

 The teacher will ask the students to do

ONE of the following task.
 The learners are free to choose what task
on how they are going to accomplished.
 The learners will send their outputs in
CARRY OUT MEASUREMENTS AND social media page.
CALCULATIOS
1. Paste a picture of solved
calculation you should own (give
atleast 3)
2. What are the measurements?
3. What is the basic calculation to
carry out?
4. Identify measurements applicable to a
specific construction job
5. Identify access, and interpret
specification materials on calculation
to carry out
