1. The question paper consists of 14 questions divided into 3 sections A, B, C.
2. All questions are compulsory.
3. Section A comprises of 6 questions of 2 marks each. Internal choice has been
provided in two questions.
4. Section B comprises of 4questions of 3 marks each. Internal choice has been provided
in one question.
5. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each. An internal choice has been
provided in one question. It contains two case study based questions.
6. Read the questions carefully and then attempt it. Show all steps as and when required.

SECTION A
Q.1 Find the values of a and b so that the polynomial x3 – ax2 – 13x + b has x – 1 2
x + 3 as factors.
OR

If a+b+c =9 and ab+bc+ca = 40 then find the value of a2+b2+c2?

Q.2 The Central Board of Secondary Education has a waiting list of examiners of 150 2
persons. Out of these, 60 are women and 90 are men.One examiner is to be selected to
replace an examiner who has not reported at the centre. Find the probability that the
examiner selected is:
i) a woman ii) a man.

Q.3 In the parallelogram ABCD, bisectors of adjacent angles A and B intersect each other 2
at P.
Prove that ∠APB= 90°.

Q.4 In the given figure, A, B, C and D are four points on a circle. AC and BD intersect at a 2
point E

such that ∠BEC = 130 and ∠ECD = 20°. Find ∠ BAC( Give reason)

Q.6 Archi had to make a model of a cylindrical kaleidoscope for her science project. 2
She wanted to use chart paper to make the curved surface of the kaleidoscope. What
would be the area of chart paper in meters required by her if she wanted to make a
kaleidoscope of length 50 cm with a 14.35 cm radius? ( 𝝅=22/7)
OR
A shopkeeper has one spherical Besan laddoo of diameter 10cm, with the same amount
of material , how many laddoos of radius 2.5cm can be made?

SECTION B

Q. 7 Solve the following using suitable identities: 3


i) 5√ 5 x3 – 2 √2 y3

ii) 4x2 + 9y2 +16z2 +12xy – 24yz – 16zx

Q. 8 Construct a triangle PQR, in which QR = 8.4 cm, ∠ Q =45° and PR - PQ=2.8cm. 3


Find the length of side PR.

Q. 9 A hemispherical dome of a building needs to be painted. If the circumference of the 3


base of the dome is 35.2m, find the total cost of painting it, given the cost of painting is
₹ 5 per 100 cm2.

Q. 10 If q(x) = x3 + 3x2+3x+1, find q (-2) +q (-3) +q (1/2) 3

OR

If the area of circular cardboard is 49𝝅 x2 + 70 𝝅 x +25 𝝅. What is the radius and
perimeter of the cardboard?

Q. 11 Factorise x3 – 3x2 -10x +24 (using Factor Theorem) 4

Q. 12 ABCD is a rhombus and P, Q, R and S are the mid points of the sides AB,BC,CD and
DA respectively. Prove that the quadrilateral PQRS is a rectangle.

In the above figure, AB || QP || CD, Q is the midpoint of AC. If AB = 4 cm and
CD = 6 cm then find the length of side QP.

CASE STUDY QUESTIONS

Q. 13 Delhi Government has made three new bus stops situated at A, B and C as shown in
the figure. These are operated by Delhi Transport Co-operation and are equidistant
from each other.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

i) What is the value of ∠BOC? Also find the measure of∠OBC ? 2


ii) If the government plans to create one more stop D between stops A and C
on the circumference, then find the ∠ADC.(Draw the figure representing 2
new stop D to justify the answer)

Q. 14 On the occasion of 75 years of Independence, Government has decided to paint the


walls of the capital city.Paint is available in two types of containers:

i) A cuboidal tank of length 5m, width 4m and height 15m.
