General Instructions: Read the following instructions very carefully and strictly follow them:

• This question paper consists of 14 questions divided into 3 sections A, B and C.

• All questions are compulsory.
• Section A comprises 6 questions of 2 marks each. Internal choice is provided in two questions.
• Section B comprises of 4 questions of 3 marks each. Internal choice is provided in one
question.
• Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each. An internal choice is provided in one
question. It contains two case study based questions.
• Use of calculators is not permitted.

SECTION A

1. If x + 6 is a factor of x3 + 3x2 + 4x + k then, find the value of k.

2. A hemispherical dome of a building needs to be painted from inside. If the inner circumference
of the base of the base is 15.4 m, find the area to be painted.
3. 750 families with 3 children were selected randomly and the following data recorded.
No. of girls in a family 0 1 2 3
No. of families 120 220 310 100

If a family member is chosen at random, compute the probability that it has: (i)
No boy child
(ii) No girl child

4. In a survey of 364 children aged 19 – 36 months, it was found that 91 liked to eat potato chips.
If a child is selected at random, compute the probability that he/she does not like to eat potato
chips.

5. In the figure, ABCD and AEFG are two parallelograms. If C = 550, then determine the value
of F.
B C

E F

A D
G

OR
Diagonals AC and BD of a parallelogram ABCD intersect each other at O. If OA = 3 cm and
OD =2cm, determine the lengths of AC and BD.
6. If AD is the diameter of a circle and AB is a chord. If AD = 34 cm, AB = 30 cm, then find the
distance of AB from the centre of the circle.

SECTION B

7. Praveen has built a cubical water tank with lid for his house, with each outer edge 200 cm long.
He gets the outer surface of the tank excluding the base, covered with square tiles of side 40
cm. Find how much he would spend for the tiles, if the cost of the tiles is Rs. 240 per
dozen.
OR
The inner diameter of a cross section of a cylindrical metal pipe is 5 cm and the outer diameter
is 5.5 cm. It is 63 cm long. Find its
(i) Inner curved surface area
(ii) Outer curved surface area
(iii) Total surface area

8. If x + y = 11 and xy =7 , find the value of x3 + y3

9. Factorise :a3 - 2√2 b3

10. Construct a triangle ABC in which BC = 8 cm, ⎳B = 600 and AB + AC = 12 cm.

SECTION C

11. Factorise : x3 – 6x2 +11x - 6

12. Prove that the quadrilateral formed (if possible) by the internal angle bisectors of any
quadrilateral is cyclic.
OR

In parallelogram ABCD, two points P and Q are taken on diagonal BD such that DP = BQ.
Show that A D
(i) ∆ APD ≅ ∆ CQB P
(ii) AP = CQ
(iii) ∆ AQB ≅ ∆ CPD
(iv) AQ = CP
(v) APCQ is a parallelogram. B Q C

13. CASE STUDY 1

Once, four friends Rahul, Arun, Ajay and Vijay went for a picnic at a hill station. Due to peak
season, they did not get a proper hotel in the city. The weather was fine so they decided to
make a conical tent at a park. They were carrying 240 m2 cloth with them. As shown in the
figure, they made the tent with height 8m and diameter 12 m. the remaining cloth was used for
the floor. (Use =3.14)
(i) How much cloth was used for making the tent?
(ii) How much cloth was available for the floor? Will it cover the total area of the floor inside
the tent?

14. CASE STUDY 2

A farmer has a circular garden as shown in the picture, which has different types of trees, plants and
flowers. In the garden there are two mango trees P and Q such that PQ = 12m. Similarly there are
two Asoka trees R and S at the same distance 12m. PQ subtends 130 0 at the centre O and PR is at
a distance of 6m from the centre. The radius of the circle is 10 m.

(i) What is the angle subtended by RS at the centre O? And what is the distance between mango
tree P and Asoka tree R?
(ii) What are the values ORS and OSR?
