SIMPLE PAST TENSE

I. Thì quá khứ đơn (the simple past tense)
1. Công thức
- Với động từ thường:
(+) S + V-ed
(-) S + did not + V(bare)
Didn’t

(?) Did + S + V(bare) ?

Eg: They swept the floor.
They didn’t do to the beach.
Did we write down the things the teacher said?

- Với động từ “to be”:

(+) S + was/were +…
(-) S + was/were + not + …
Wasn’t/ weren’t

(?) Was/were + S + …?

Eg: She was beautiful at the party.

He wasn’t the first man who came to the Moon.
Were they excited?
2. Cách sử dụng
–  Diễn tả hành động xảy ra và kết thúc tại một thời điểm ở quá khứ.
–  Dùng “used to + verb” diễn tả thói quen thường xảy ra ở quá khứ,
nhưng không còn ở hiện tại; “be used to, get used to + V-ing” diễn tả việc
đã quen với việc làm gì, còn ở hiện tại.
Used to + V : đã từng làm …
Be used to/ Get used to + V-ing/ N-phrase : đã quen

Eg: I used to play tennis when I was young. ( I don’t play tennis now).
3. Dấu hiệu
–  ago (trước đây)
–  yesterday (hôm qua)
–  last month, last week, last year…
–  in + thời gian: in 1980, in 2000…
- when + mệnh đề quá khứ

4. Động từ (2 loại)
Động từ Ved: learned, worked, stayed, lived…
Động từ bất quy tắc: tra bảng động từ bất quy tắc
Eg: go – went
see – saw
cut – cut
do – did
4. Cách phát âm (3 cách)
– Phát âm là /t/ sau phụ âm p,k, sh, ch, s, gh
Eg: missed, talked, stopped, washed, laughed….
– Phát âm là /d/ sau n, l, e, r, b, g, y, w…
Eg: rained, lived, called, answered, begged, combed…
– Phát âm là /id/ sau t, d
Eg: started, wanted, needed, visited….

Bài 5: Bài tập về thì quá khứ – Đọc những gì Laure nói về một ngày làm
việc điển hình.
Laure: I usually get up at 7 o’clock and have a big breakfast. I walk to work,
which takes me about an hour. I start work at 8:45. I neverhave lunch. I finish
work at 5 o’clock. I’m always tired when I gethome. I usually cook a meal in
the evening. I don’t usually go out, I goto bed at about 11 o’clock and I always
sleep well.

Yesterday was a typical working day for Laura. Write what she did or didn’t
do yesterday.
