INTRODUCTION

MANAGEMENT SKILL: TEAMWORK

It is very important to recognize management skills when we live them, therefore, in our

work environment we must be careful when expressing ourselves and take into account the

importance of emotional intelligence.

In this activity we will talk about our experience in work environments where management

skills and of course emotional intelligence have played an important role.

The most significant experience was lived by one of the members of the group in the

company where he works, ECOPETROL S.A., in which the experience he had about working

in the team was very important for his personal and professional growth.

1. SITUATION (MANAGERIAL ABILITY)

In a process of daily operation of the plant, an emergency arose in which the entire

team of operators had to go out to attend to.

It was getting dark and the whole emergency was still in one of the distillation plants,

when it was midnight it was time to exchange shifts. There were some operators tired

and others not, those who were not tired were just entering work and the tired ones

had already been there for more than 10 hours, so knowing that, it was decided to

make a relay so that the rested people would support the tired ones who had been

there longer, we worked as a team to achieve our objective of stabilizing the plant.

Why was the teamwork managerial skill implemented?

Because it was necessary to be able to solve the problem that arose, we thought about

our colleagues and their exhaustion, therefore, we decided to support them and give

them more rest time.

Likewise, we all help each other when unwanted situations arise and thus we get out

of that difficulty faster.

2. ACTORS AND CONTEXT OF THE PRESENTED SITUATION

The actors are all the workers who were there in the emergency.

2.1 ACTORS:

 Operators: We are those in charge of operations, also those who attend

emergencies in the first instance.

 Supervisors: They are in charge of directing the maneuvers in a safe and

responsible way and of supporting the operators.

 Department heads: He is the leader of the entire department and the one

who makes the main decisions.

2.2 CONTEXTO:

 PRESSURE CONTEXT (STRESS): The scene is tense because you

have to be very careful in the movements since flammable and risk

products are used.

 SOLIDARITY CONTEXT: Understanding that the colleagues who were

on the previous shift were tired, it was decided to support them voluntarily

so that their effort was not excessive.

 COLLABORATIVE CONTEXT – RESPONSIBILITY: We

understand our tired colleagues and support them, knowing that it is our

responsibility to give our best for the collective benefit, always thinking

that good teamwork is the best solution to difficulties.
