Student’s Answer:

Because of digital technology, the world is more connected than ever before. Only a strong commitment
to global partnership and cooperation will allow the SDGs to be realized. Coordination of policies to assist
developing countries, particularly the least developed, is critical to achieving long-term growth and
development. This includes assisting these countries with financial management, including debt
management, as well as promoting investment. The EU has long been committed to global partnership by
providing official development assistance to developing countries. Over the last decade, the balance of
roles has shifted from donor–recipient to cooperation based on a more equal partnership. SDG 17 urges
for global collaboration on sustainable development. The goal emphasizes the importance of global
macroeconomic stability and the need to mobilize financial resources for developing countries from both
domestic and international sources, as well as through strengthened domestic revenue collection
capacities. It also emphasizes the importance of trade for developing countries and the need for fair rules
to govern international trade. SDG 17 also emphasizes the importance of access to science, technology,
and innovation, particularly internet-based information, and communications technology.

We all can contribute by any amount, no matter how large or small, can help. Work or volunteer in non-
governmental organizations (NGOs) dedicated to achieving the Global Goals. You can help achieve the
Goals by 2030 by participating in a variety of projects. Buy products from developing countries to support
exports. Acknowledge timely and long-term duty-free and quota-free market access for all LDCs, in
accordance with World Trade Organization decisions, including by ensuring that preferential rules of origin
applicable to imports from LDCs are transparent and simple, and contribute to facilitating market access.
Encourage the development, transfer, dissemination, and diffusion of environmentally sound technologies
to developing countries on favorable terms, including concessional and preferential terms agreed upon.

Simply put, without significant progress on SDG 17, achieving the remaining 16 goals will be nearly
impossible. The fact that some of the world's richest countries are essentially failing SDG 17 is especially
troubling given the Goal's structure. If steps are not taken to coordinate, collaborate, and convene within
and between countries to work toward the SDGs, the chances of success diminish year after year.
