Panel Identification
Located on the upper right corner of the control panel 3
is a tractor symbol (1) indicating the three-point hitch
controlled by that panel.
4
Rotary Lowering Rate Control Knob
The lowering rate control knob (2) is used to set the
rate at which the implement will lower to the ground.
10004801
Turn the knob (2) clockwise to increase the lowering
rate and counterclockwise to decrease the lowering 4
rate.

Rotary Depth Control Knob

The rotary depth control knob (3) is used to set the
implement working depth when the system is in
automatic mode. Turning the knob (3) clockwise will
cause the three-point hitch to rise and counterclock-
wise to lower.

Automatic/Manual Switch
The automatic/manual switch (4) is a two position
rocker switch. Push the bottom of the switch (4) to put
the system into manual mode. Push the top of the
switch (4) to put the system into automatic mode.

Three-Point Hitch Status Light

The three-point hitch status light (5) provides as an
indicator for several purposes:

Light is Off:
Auto, captured mode, command knob position
matches the rockshaft position.
Manual mode.

Light is On:
Hitch not captured
Hitch not calibrated.

Light is Flashing:
In calibrate mode.

35-5
SECTION 35 – HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS – CHAPTER 3
Raise Switch in Manual Position
The raise switch (1) has one detent position. 1
Pressing and holding the raise switch (1) when the
automatic/manual switch is set to manual position
will raise the three-point hitch. The three-point hitch
will rise as long as the switch is pressed and will stop
when the three-point hitch is fully raised or when the
switch is released.

Raise Switch in Automatic Position

Pressing and releasing the raise switch (1) when the
automatic/manual switch is set to automatic position 19983629
will raise the three-point hitch to the preset height set
during the three-point hitch-calibration. There is no 5
incremental control of the three-point hitch in the
automatic position, except with the depth control.
Lower Switch in Manual Position
The lower switch (1) has one detent position.
Pressing and holding the lower switch (1) when the
automatic/manual switch is set to manual position
will lower the three-point hitch. The three-point hitch
will lower as long as the switch is pressed and will
stop when the three-point hitch is fully lowered or
1
when the switched is released.

Lower Switch in Automatic Position

Pressing and releasing the lower switch (1) when the
automatic/manual switch is set to automatic position 19983629
will lower the three-point hitch to the preset height set
during the three-point hitch-calibration. There is no 6
incremental control of the three-point hitch in the
automatic position, except with the depth control.
Monitor Three-Point Hitch Display
The electronic monitor has two bar graph displays (1)
to indicate the position of the cab end three-point
hitch and engine end three-point hitch. The bar graph
displays the position of the three-point hitch arms, “0”
indicates the three-point hitch is fully lowered, “100”
indicated the three-point hitch is fully raised.

SECTION 35 – HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS – CHAPTER 3
Potentiometer
A potentiometer is an electrical devise, which works
with variable resistance. The potentiometer contains
a power supply wire, a signal wire (also known as a
wiper), and a ground wire.

Normal flow of current would be from the power

supply wire through the resistor ground. In a
potentiometer, the power can take a short cut back to
a controller through a signal wire. This indicates to
the controller that the total resistance measured
between the power supply and signal wires would be
less than the resistance measured between the
supply and ground wires. The resistance is variable
by moving the signal (wiper) across the resistor 8
inside the potentiometer.
Feedback Potentiometer
A feedback potentiometer (1) is located at the
rockshaft assembly. When the system is in the
automatic mode, the feedback potentiometer (1)
sends a position signal back to the three-point
hitch-controller. This position signal “tells” the
controller the position of the lift linkage. The
controller compares the position signal with the
signal from the depth control knob or the maximum
lift point stored in the controller memory during the
calibration. The controller will signal the solenoid
valve to raise or lower the hitch so the signal match 1
to keep the lift arms at the present height. MT04D018

the command and feedback potentiometers.

Since the Auto/Manual switch is in the Neutral Mode,

no connection is made and the raise and lower

HYDRAULIC LIFT ASSEMBLY CONTROL

VALVE
The hydraulic lift assembly control valve (1) is a
proportional, solenoid operated valve located on the
left side of the cab frame rail. The valve responds to
pulse width modulated signals from the controller to
direct pump pressure oil to, and release from the
hydraulic lift cylinder in direct proportion to the
degree of lift required.

A solenoid valve at each end of the control valve is 1

used to operate a pilot spool. The pilot spool controls
the amount of the pilot pressure of 17-19 bar 19988108
(250-280 psi) to use to move the main spool. The
28
main spool meters the amount of system pressure
and flow delivered to the lift cylinder.

Neutral
When the lift arms are held in a stationary position,
no electrical signals are being sent to the control
valve solenoids and the control valve is held in
neutral. In neutral, the spring force applied to each
end of the main spool holds the spool centered which
prevents oil flow to or from the hydraulic lift.

Both the pilot line and the load sensing line are open
to reservoir. The load check valve remains seated to
trap oil in the lift cylinders and maintain the arms
stationary.
