hometown, Madura.

“this is a story about Jokotole”.

Joko Tole was the king of the Somennep Palace in 1415-1460, succeeding his grandfather, Prince
Saccadiningrat II. Since childhood, Jokotole has lived with his adoptive father, Mpu Kelleng in the
Pakandangan area. His adoptive father was known as a keris maker.

According to history, Jokotole once helped Majapahit in the construction of the royal fence. At that
time, Mpu Kelleng was assigned to build the Majapahit fence by the King of Brawijaya. For years, his
adoptive father had not come home and made Jokotole and his family panic. They are afraid something
will happen to Mpu Kelleng on the way to build the Majapahit gate.

Finally, Jokotole left for Mojokerto, the center of the Majapahit government. He saw Mpu Kelleng who
were confused to connect the fences.

In the midst of confusion about how to connect the fence, Jokotole Meditate to get a vision and a way
out of the problem and so he could help Mpu Kelleng. Times had passed, he finally got a clue how
Majapahit fence would be able to stand firm and stick firmly. Only if Jokotole volunteered himself to be
burned alive and then liquid would come out of his navel, that navel fluid would be used as glue to
connect the fence.

Jokotole told Mpu Kelleng and other Mpu, that he could glue the fence by burning his body and taking
the liquid that came out of his navel to be glued to the iron fence.

Jokotole's suggestion had shocked the Mpus, including Mpu Kelleng. “What? What's on your mind,
Jokotole?" said Mpu Kelleng. But because the suggestion was based on Jokotole's vision, all the Mpu
agreed to his wish.

Then, Jokotole burned his body, fire began to rain down on his body, instantly his skin was scalded black
and charred, his flesh was like being stabbed by the heat of the fire, his eyeballs were enlarged, bulging
in pain, his hands were clenched into fists, he felt his body being slashed mercilessly by the fire. And yes,
there was fluid coming out of his navel. The Mpu took the liquid and glued it to the fence.

As a result, the fence stands upright and connected between the fences. Everyone was fascinated by the
success of Joko Tole connect the fences. Then, Jokotole's burned body was doused with water, so
Jokotole can be mended.

The incident amazed the King of Brawijaya. As a reward, Jokotole was married to one of his daughters
named Dewi Ratnadi.

The moral value that we can take is, sincerity in giving help even sacrificing ourselves to help others will
also have a good impact on ourselves because the universe knows how to repay our kindness.
