9. RAIL SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A1 AND A759. 4. ERECT STEEL WORK TRUE AND PLUMB; USE TEMPORARY BRACING WHERE NECESSARY TO RESIST

i. BEAM END CONNECTIONS SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR 75% OF THE SHEAR CAPACITY OF MEMBER
USING THE FULL SECTION OR THE LOADS GIVEN ON THE DESIGN DRAWINGS.

j. COLUMN SPLICES SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR THE MOST STRINGENT OF FULL COMPRESSION OR
TENSION CAPACITY (UPLIFT COLUMNS ONLY) AND 100% OF THE MOMENT CAPACITY OF THE
SMALLER MEMBER SPLICED..

k. COLUMN TO BASE PLATE CONNECTIONS SHALL BE A MINIMUM 5mm CONTINUOUS FILLET WELD
OR DESIGNED TO THE LOADS GIVEN ON THE DESIGN DRAWINGS.

l. MOMENT CONNECTIONS SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR 100% OF THE MEMBERS MOMENT CAPACITY.

m. USE 3 4" DIAMETER BOLTS OR LARGER IF REQUIRED FOR STRUCTURAL MEMBER CONNECTIONS.
USE ONE BOLT SIZE THROUGH-OUT.

n. USE BEARING TYPE BOLTED CONNECTIONS UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE WITH THREADS
INCLUDED IN THE SHEAR PLANE. SLIP CRITICAL CONNECTIONS WHERE REQUIRED WILL BE
NOTED ON THE DESIGN DRAWINGS.

o. MINIMUM THICKNESS OF STIFFENER PLATES TO BE 8mm.


MINIMUM THICKNESS OF GUSSET PLATES TO BE 10mm.
MINIMUM THICKNESS OF CONNECTION ANGLES TO BE 6mm.

p. MINIMUM SIZE OF FILLET WELD TO BE 5mm FOR SHOP WELDING AND 6mm FOR FIELD WELDING
