Context
Congratulations! You've just been hired as an electrician in a company based in New York.
As part of your new maintenance activities, your boss wants you to create an operating manual for a
system, machine, process or tool.
Organization
As described in the job description, you will have to work in team, in pairs of two (no more).
You will have three 1-hour sessions to prepare your technical analysis and description before handing
back your work and presenting it in front of the class

/!\ Alternants /!\ You are encouraged to pick something related to the company you are working with.
List all the technical vocabulary you need to describe this tool and find an English equivalent. Get help
from the teachers, past activities of the web. It’s important for you to list the vocabulary in a precise
manner in order to get the best start on technical manual redaction.

BTS Electrotechnique 1ère année.
Your description must contain texts but also technical schematic and or drawings. You are encouraged
to use the SysML language to enhance your description accuracy.
STEP 4 :
For each step take a picture to illustrate the instruction. Then add a caption to explain the
instruction.
STEP 5 : Redaction
You must write down and redact your operating manual. The redaction must show a description
of the system AND an operation manual showing and telling the operator how to use the system.
STEP 6 : Presentation
In front of the class present the instruction manual to the others. At the end of your
presentation everybody must be able to use the tool or the machine.
You will have the possibility to have your complete instruction manual and a few notes with
you, if you wish. You will have to know exactly on which parts to focus, and be as precise as
possible.
The presentation must be at least 5 minutes long and you will be asked questions at the end.
Both the oral presentation and the instruction manual will be marked.
