8. Executive summary:
Today there is need of alternate fuel for day today life. Fuel prices are increasing rapidly and
environment get polluted from the emission of hazardous gases from fuel sources. Shortage of the
fuel is expected from consumption. Hence there is need of reduce the emission of gases like CO,
SO2, NOx, which are hazardous to nature.
Now a day, more than 40% of Ethiopia’s population is not using electricity especially in rural
area and in many monasteries, such as all lake Tana monasteries. People in rural area, investors
in farming lands and monks in monasteries always use plant for baking and cooking which is
harmful for the country and for our world as well. Lamps and candles are common in our country
to avoid the dark in those mentioned area. Besides, the main problem with the conventional IC
engine is that they need fuel for combustion and when these fuels are burnt there is liberation of
large amount of pollutants. Another concern is that people tend to use gasoline propelled
generator even for ruing TV, Refrigerator, charging cell phone although solar cells are available
in the market for some time, they are not that very popular because of high cost and less
durability. The growing demand for fuel and the depletion of fuel reserves have made it the need
of the hour to use alternate engine system, permanent magnet motor. This paper proposes a
technology to produces electrical energy using repulsion magnet technique. The proposed
technology employs the theory of magnetic repulsion.
Currently available electric device in Ethiopia are solar cell and diesel engine. Diesel engine is
well known by its high fuel consumption and it does not work more than 6 hours per a day while
solar cell is too expensive, time and location dependent, for instance people around semen
mountain are not allowed to use solar system because the environment is very cold, accordingly
no sufficient sun light throughout the year. Solar cell no longer store energy if it is raining,
clouding or dark.
Electric power from solar cell, wind, tidal, hydroelectric power are some of the free energy.
Permanent Magnet Electric Motor is one of the most well-known free energy device which does
not require any fuel and sunlight to generate mechanical power for the production of electricity.
Development of Permanent Magnet Electric Motor is based on attracting and repelling properties
of permanent magnetic pole/field of the magnet to generate the required force to move the motor.

2
PERMANENT MAGNET ELECTRIC MOTOR
The system uses permanent magnets to produce repulsion and this repulsive force produces a
torque which drives a DC generator.
Rotating apparatus is produce to rotary motion due to magnetic repulsive force. The rotary
motion is transmitted to generator through flange. Generator is used to convert mechanical
energy to electrical energy.
The main objective of this project is to develop pollution free engine which fulfill the fuel
requirement. The working principle of electromagnetic engine is based on magnetic attraction
and repulsion phenomenon i.e. Magnetic repulsion between same pole and attraction between
different pole.
Thus, the Permanent Magnet Electric Motor will be developed by specifying the required
number of Neodymium magnet to run the motor. After having a clear system design on paper,
manufacturing the frame and shafts of permanent magnet motor, manufacturing or procuring of
the stator and rotor disc, procuring of Neodymium permanent magnet, procuring of mechanical
parts like bolt and nuts, bearings, metals will be conducted. Then, assemble all mechanical parts
and test the rotation of motor without any input, starter or prime mover.

9. Background of the proposed project:

In Ethiopia the total demand for electricity is highly increasing. There is an imbalance between
demand and supply of electricity. Only 56% Ethiopia’s population had access to the electric grid
in 2017. Most of the 35% rural population of Ethiopia is not connected to the grid. Due to a
quickly increasing demand of electric power ~30% per annum, it came to a lot of power outage.
In 2016 and 2017, there was a lack of grid stability. If our renaissance dam allowed to produce
plenty of electric power, more than the demand, still there is a barrier in spreading electric line
(gridding). For instance, how can the government supply electricity to the community who are
living at Tana islands if there is no way of making electric line through water?
Today the demand of user friendly of interactive less power consumed products are increasing.
This is done because of shortage of electrical energy and today energy saving is the most
important objective because of the limited resources of fossil fuel which is likely to be exhausted
with few years. Also, there is a rapid development in technology as well as in mechanical
automobile and many other fields. due to this rapid change or development peoples prefer
systems that work with less power and which has high speed that makes whole system compact,
cost effective.
In this technological world we are using many type of engines for many purposes like transport,
power generating, etc. but they are using fossil fuels. In this fuels are the one of the important
pollutant of the environment so they cause many problems like greenhouse effect, decrease of
ozone level so the harm full rays coming from the sun is directly affect the human and other
living organisms and it causes skin cancer and other skin problems so we want to reduce this
problem also the fossil fuels are very lowest percentage in the world. After 50 years it will going
to finished so we want to wait another million years for getting this fossil fuel. In 2016 a trial of
using permanent magnet (PM) as self-running magnetic motor had been conducted in USA and
satisfactory result had been obtained in such a way that 20 kw mechanical power from some
numbers of neodymium magnet pieces (not more than 500). This time, suppliers such as
Infinitysav, tesla, are producing Permanent Magnet electric motor for sales. However, in
Ethiopia such mechanical techniques are not exist completely even though more that 40% of
citizens are in dark and many investors are suffering with fuel cost. This project is aiming to

3
PERMANENT MAGNET ELECTRIC MOTOR
design a Permanent Magnet motor for running of generator without any fuel charge or any input
for life time.
So we are ready for facing these problems. Thus, we are going for one energy to face these
problems. For solving those problems, we are having an idea to run the engine. It is
electromagnetic engine in this we are using permanent magnet energy as a fuel. This one is
different from already existing one. In this we are using magnetic forces. In this engine there is
no use of fuels like diesel and petrol. To utilized permanent magnet energy to produce more
electrical energy by magnetic repulsion technique, the system uses permanent magnets
(Neodymium Magnets) to produce repulsion and this repulsive force produces a torque which
drives a DC generator. The repulsive magnet disc which contains number of permanent magnets
are arranged on a circumferential portion of the disc with regular intervals and same magnetic
polarity of permanent magnets are located on the shaft of motor. The rotating disc is couple with
generator through a flange. During driving a load, the motor rotates the disc due to magnetic
repulsion which drives a DC generator to produce electrical energy.
Therefore, by observing and considering problems of shortage of electricity as well as fossil fuel
and etc. We decide to make a mechanical system named “Permanent magnet Motor”.

10. System Components

Permanent Magnet Electric Motor includes different mechanical and electrical equipment that
should be selected according to demand, value and application. A balance of system that wired
together to form the entire fully functional system capable of producing mechanical power and
these components are:
A. Magnetic disk E. shafts
B. Metal frame F. Wire and Bulbs
C. DC generator G. Bolt and nuts
D. 45 cm long screw H. Bearings

11. Statement of the need:

Now a day, more than 40% of Ethiopian citizens are not using electricity. Accordingly, they are
in a dark and unable to use electrical device like cellphone, TV, Refrigerator, cellphone etc. In
rural area as well as in many monasteries, for example more than 20 monasteries in lake Tana,
citizens are using lamp and candle respectively to avoid the dark. Investors in their farming lands
are suffering with living in a dark and unable to charge their cellphone. Individuals under the
need of electricity usually enforced to use either solar system or petrol engine, however both
have enormous limitation beside their expensiveness.
For example, solar system no longer store energy if it is raining, clouding, or dark. Besides, it
does not store the required energy unless it must be installed on the proper environment and
season. For instance, citizens around semen mountain are not allowed to use solar system
because there is no sufficient sun light throughout the year. In a sum, it depends on season, time
and location.

4
PERMANENT MAGNET ELECTRIC MOTOR
Petrol engine is well known by its high fuel consumption, carbon dioxide emission, it is no
longer work more than 6 hours per a day, and low efficiency (26-30% efficiency). The owner of
this engine has a debt to buy fuel daily in addition to the machine purchasing price.
In Gondar University, the teaching learning process is conducted by using smart board
technology and computers which are intimately depend on electric power. So most of the time
no power no class situation might be happened. The university tries to alleviate the problem by
using diesel generator. But, the cost of benzene/naphtha for operation of this generator is too
high.
However, Permanent Magnet (PM) electric motor is free from fuel consumption and it does not
depend on season and location and it does not require any prime mover (starter) to start the
process. Thus, once bought, individuals use it for eternity (life time) without any fuel charge.

17. Feasibility of the technology.

Currently this free energy machine is available in some countries outside Ethiopia such as
Russia, China. This technology is built on the bases of the natural law, opposite poles
attract each other and like poles repeal each other. Thus, by facing opposite poles we can
generate rotational motion that can run the dynamo (DC generator).
The machine is not complex like fuel engines available in the market but very simple and
made from a few local made components except the permanent magnet, Neodymium.
Thus, we can fabricate the Permanent Magnet Electric Motor with affordable price. The
investment cost of the proposed system will be reimbursed by the system with in short
span of time. After that time, the system will supply electrical power at free of cost.
