A young boy named Tum lived with his single mother in a
province of Baphnoum. When the time came, his mother sent Tum to became a Buddhist monk at Vihea Thom pagoda then he met monk Pich. They both became close friend. Both of them have knowledge of magic, smot, blowing, and selling. One day, they asked the inspector to sell the Tork. Tum and Pich sold until Tbong Khmum district. Tum sang beautifully, which surprised the people of Tbong Khmum to came and listened. Noh is a servant of Teav’s house and she saw Tom was handsome and had sweet voice. When she came back home, Noh told Teav everything. Teav heard this news, she was very excited and begged her mother to invited Tum to Smoat performance at her house. Teav watched from behind a curtain as she was prohibited from being seen because she was undergoing the practice of “ Chaul Malub”. Teav fell in love with Tum and prepared a bag of barley, Slamlou for Noh bring to him and wish to meet him. Tum also fell in love. When all of the Tork was sold out, monks Tum and Pich proceeded to return to the pagoda. Tum couldn’t stop thinking about Teav. He discussed with Pich about quit the monkhood and became an ordinary citizen even the inspector didn’t agree. He and Pich set out on a journey to see Teav. Tum went to Teav’s house without Pich. Teav’s mother wasn’t home at the time and they stayed together until midnight. Later, Orchun, the governor of Tbong Khmum province, He got engaged Teav to his son name Mern Nguon. Meanwhile, The King of the Royal Palace of Longvek heard the news about Tum and Pich had talented in the Thbaung Khmum district. So he ordered to go and bring Tum and Pich to the palace. He liked Tum so much and granted him an official rank of Meun Ek. After then the King became bored and wanted another wife. The Royal servants set out a journey to found a beautiful girl for the king and touched Teav that make Teav’s mother very happy then they brought Teav to the palace. When Tum and Teav met each other at the palace. Tum was very nervous and upset and he sang everything that made the King marry Tum and Teav as a couple at that time. This made Teav's mother very upset, so she hurried back to her hometown and tried to forge a letter to tell Teav that she was seriously ill. Upon heard the news, Teav came to see her mother at home and was forced to married with Mern Nguon. Desperate, she wrote a letter to let Tum knew. When Tum received the letter he went to told the King about that situation. The King was equally upset and gave Tum an official letter designed to stop Oar Choun. When Tum arrived Teav’s house, he lost consciousness, drank too much, and hugged Teav in front of all the guests which made Teav's mother angry so she rushed to caught Tum and killed him under the Po Cheung Karl tree. Pich brought this unfortunate news to the king. When Teav knew that her husband was killed. She found Tum’s body and she committed suicide near him. Also, Noh took her own life near Teav. After the king heard the news from Pich , he became furious and came to the court and arrested Orchun ,Mern Nguon and Teav's mother, buried them alive and took the rake over their heads, while the citizen of Tbaung Khmum were becoming the workers or labelled as “Neak Ngear”. Alternatively, But I want to change the ending of the story. First, when Tum received the letter from the king, he hurried back to Tbong Khmum province. When Tum arrived at the wedding venue he read the letter to Everyone in there. After Tom finished reading the letter, everyone didn't believe him that it was a true letter, so Tom was handed over to Teav's mother. When she finished reading the letter and saw the king's signature then they confirmed that letter was true, so she decided to end the wedding. At the same time, Teav's mother accepted Tum as her legal son-in-law Although Mern Nguon and Ak Choun didn't satisfied, Teav's mother decided to choose Tum according to the king's letter, and both of father and son didn't dare to oppose the king's ordered. 1week after then Tum and Teav returned back to Palace and lived together peacefully. And 5 months after everything was over, Teav had a cute baby boy name Tan Tan. Tan Tan is a smart and handsome boy who is loved and respected by everyone, even the king. When Tan Tan was 15 years old, the king handed over the throne to Tan Tan to managed after him because he was sick. In the end, they all live happily ever after.
