What is a Narrative paragraph?

● A narrative paragraph tells a story or describes an event.


● It has a clear beginning, a middle, and an end.
● The story/ events in narrative paragraphs should be arranged chronologically, that is in
the order in which they have happened.
● It could be a tale, novel, an account of one’s life, a natural phenomenon, or a social
event
● In an academic setting, a narrative paragraph is sometimes used in reports.
● Uses descriptive words to help the reader better understand exact feelings and events.
● A narrative paragraph must have:
● A central idea ( what the story/event is about)
● Characters ( who it is about)
● A plot ( conflict, complication, climax, and resolution of the story/event)
● Adequate description
● Setting (when and where the story happens)
Tum Teav

_______Tum’s arrival at Teav’s wedding marks the end of the story. Tum is caught and
executed. Teav, with love for her husband, commits suicide. The couple’s death outrages the
king that he orders execution for those involved in the tragedy.

_______The story is a real love tragedy that happened in the 16th century in present-day
Kampong Cham province. It is widely taught in high school.

_______Not long after, Teav’s mum arranges a marriage with a rich guy for Teav, but fails. Then,
Teav is selected as a concubine and sent to the capital. The king admires her so much, but with
mercy, he offers Tum and Teav a wedding. As dissatisfaction grows, Teav’s mum rearranges the
marriage with the previous guy. Teav is deceived and comes back home. With worry, Tum
follows her.
