GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1 INTRODUCTION
This manual contains information related to the physical, mechanical and electrical characteristics
and installation procedures of the KA155 FM filter.

1.2 EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION

The KA155 (071--00111--0000) is a remote Mounted bandpass filter that when installed with the
various approved systems listed in para 1.5 will show compliance to ICAO Annex 10 requirements
on FM interference Immunity Performance for ILS Localizer and VOR receivers.

SECTION II
INSTALLATION

2.1 GENERAL INFORMATION

This section contains general suggestions and information to consider before installation of the
KA 155. Close adherence to these suggestions will assure optimum performance from the
equipment. Specific installation requirements are contained in the STC Installation Manual that
pertains to the particular type of aircraft in which the equipment is to be installed. Figures 2--2 and
2--3 refer to installation into antenna systems. Figure 2--4 relates to installation of BNC connectors.

2.2 UNPACKING AND INSPECTING EQUIPMENT

Exercise extreme care when unpacking the equipment. Make a visual inspection of the unit for
evidence of damage incurred during shipment. If a claim for damage is to be made, save the
shipping container to substantiate the claim. The claim should be promptly filed with the
transportation company. It would be advisable to retain the container and packaging material after
all equipment has been removed in the event that equipment storage or reshipment should become
necessary.

2.3 EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

2.3.1 ORIENTATION
The KA155 can be mounted in any orientation. The KA155 should be securely mounted.
2.3.2 GROUNDING
Electrical connection of the KA155 chassis to aircraft ground is not required.
2.3.2 PLACEMENT
The KA155 should not be placed next to the COMM antenna or the COMM antenna cables.
2.3.3 PORTS
The KA155 input/output ports can be reversed with no degradation of performance.
2.3.4 INSTALLATION
1. Locate existing NAV antenna(s) and cables.
2. At location of suitable mounting, cut antenna cable and install BNC male connectors
(not supplied) Refer to figure 2--4.
3. Secure the KA155 with 8--32 hardware (not supplied).
4. Connect KA155 as shown in applicable figure 2--2 or 2--3.

2.4 SYSTEM CHECKOUT

The installer must verify the acceptable sensitivity and proper system performance is realized after
the KA155 installation. Refer to the specific Nav/Glideslope receivers systems checkout for your
installation.
