FOREWORD

Praise and gratitude we pray to God the Almighty for His blessing and guidance,
so we can compile this module based on some valid sources.
As we know that tour guides are now increasingly needed, because many tourists
spend more time to enjoy their travels more comfortably and safely. Therefore,
this type of work is promising. Instead of getting exciting experiences, there are
also many opportunities that will increase self-confidence. Thus, opening and
building relationships will be easier.
To be a Professional Tour Guide, practice is also given during the course
concerning the stages in picking up guests from the pick-up point, dropping them
off at the hotel, which is called Transfer-In, and performing the stages in the City
Tour, as well as practicing the stages in taking guests to the drop-off point from
the hotel, or called Transfer-Out.
Finally, we take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped in the
preparation of this module.

Brief Materials:
Main guiding information
In the main guide, a tour guide has started to provide information
about an object or tourist attraction being visited. The information
provided by a tour guide in the main guide will certainly vary
depending on the tourist attractions visited, for example, historical,
social, cultural, physical form, and various other things. In general,
we can use the following English sentences to convey information
as a guide;
• Ladies & gentlemen, let me inform you to about the tour
program / the place we're visiting right now (used in the
preamble before conveying the whole information)
• We're now in ... the place is ...
• Ladies & gentlemen, please follow me to the ..., and I will
give you more detailed information about ...
• Let's get back / rewind a bit to the history of ...
• That's the little / short history about ..., we go to ...
• As you can see in here / in ..., it is ... / there're ...
• Furthermore about ... / Talking forward about ...
• Let's continue, ...
• As an additional information / for your information; last but
not least

[Date] 13
• If you have any question, don't hesitate, you can directly ask
to me about it. (It can be asked in the middle of the trip so
that tour guides and tourists feel more familiar, or at the end
when scouting in one place is almost finished)
• As additional information, the tour guide can ask and tell the
location of the toilet / rest room; the rest room is over there /
is on ..., in case you need it, you can tell me right away

In the main guide as well, there are several pointers that can be
used by tour guides when they want to show an interesting object
or want to be explained in detail, can also be used if they want to
show an interesting object that is passed, or passing sights when
the guide is talking on the way. As everyone is on the bus for
example. Those sentences are;
• In front of you is ...
• On you left / right, you will see ...
• Up ahead, there is/are ...
• As we turn the corner here, you will see ...
• In the distance ...
• If you look up, you will notice ...
• Off the north ...
• Look to the east ...
• To your west ...
• In a few minutes we'll be passing ...

[Date] 14
• We are now coming up to ...
• As you will see ...
• You may have noticed ...
• Take a good look at ...
• I'd like to point out ...

PART 4: TRANSFER-OUT
Brief materials:
Final Guide (Closing)
Closing is usually accompanied by greetings such as thank you
and goodbye, but a tour guide will look flat if a tour guide suddenly
just says thank you and goodbye, right? In addition to these words,
we can recognize various sentences in English which are longer
but easy to pronounce.
• Ladies & gentlemen, that's all my information about ..., and if
you have no further questions, I believe this is the end of our
trip with me in ...
• I really hope you all enjoy ... / enjoy your visit today.
• I would like to say thank you for visiting Indonesia,
especially choosing ..., as one of your places to visit in your
trip today.
• I'm really sorry / I would like to apologize for any mistakes / if
there're words that may heard uncomfortable or wrong.
• Last but not least, please kindly check all of your belongings
so you may not leave anything behind.
• Once again, on behalf of ... Tour and Travel, terima kasih
dan sampai jumpa, thank you and see you again in the next
trip! (insert a few words in Indonesian too, to introduce a
little more Indonesian culture and language to tourists)
