Purchasing is the organized acquisition
of goods and services on behalf of the
buying entity. Purchasing activities are
needed to ensure that needed items are
obtained in a timely manner and at a
reasonable cost.
These are the essential

guidelines that you

should remember for

effective purchasing

 “Right Quality”
This is obtaining goods which are of satisfactory quality

and fit for their purpose

“Right Quantity”
It refers to obtaining goods in sufficient quantity to

meet demand.

The “Right Place and Time”

It means having goods delivered to the appropriate

delivery point, packaged and transported in such a way

as to secure their safe arrival in good condition.

 The “Right Price”

It is securing goods at a price which is reasonable, fair,

competitive and affordable.

“Right Source
Be sure that your supplier is reputable and reliable.
Their products must be safe and come from good

sources. They must also deliver what they promise

within the given period of time.
