WHERE DOES FOOTBALL COME FROM?

Football was born more than 100 years ago in the United States of America as a
modification of English rugby. It is one of the most competitive contact sports in the
United States and is currently practiced in more than 60 countries. This sport
requires great discipline, physical training and mental preparation.

In the United States, the most popular sport is American football. Football is one of
the most-watched sports in the United States and has about 390 million to 410 million
fans worldwide, the majority of which are in the United States.

Football is played by two teams, so that 11 offensive players from one team play
against 11 defensive players from the other team. The attacking team tries to carry

the ball through the race or through the pass, towards the end zone or final zone and
thus score points. The defense has to prevent this from happening and try to prevent
the rival team from advancing towards the goal. The game consists of the offensive
squad achieving a touchdown -the basic form of scoring, with a value of 6 points, plus
1 transformation if done by chut between suits, or 2 points if executed by play- as the
main objective, or a field goal, with a value of 3 points. To do so, they must advance at
least ten yards, at a maximum of four opportunities or downs.
A match lasts a total of 60 minutes, divided into four quarters of 15 minutes each

THE TEAMS
- 2 teams each with 11 players on court for each play.
- 45 interchangeable players on each team.
- Players are often divided into 3 different categories. Attack, defense and special
teams.
- The quarterback is the most important position. This is who makes all the offensive
decisions of the team. He is the only one in the attack that maintains a direct dialogue
with the coach, orders the plays to the rest of the team and decides on which occasion
to pass the ball.
- In attack, there are two types of players. The receivers, who run around the field
without the ball, waiting for the quarterback to give them a pass and thus gain yards.
And the running backs, who start from behind waiting for the quarterback to give
them the ball from hand to hand and trying to penetrate the rival defense in order to
gain as many yards as possible.

The ball The football ball is an easily recognizable ovoid, it is an inflated rubber
chamber of 12 to 13 pounds, covered by a layer of leather and its weight is 397 - 425
gr. When the ovoid is released, it spirals and usually revolves around itself.

UNIFORM
- The jersey is basically each player’s identity and marks his allegiance to a specific
team. The jersey must be large enough to cover the shoulder pads. The numerals,
which appear on the front and back of the jersey, are 8 inches high and 4 inches wide.
- On the back of each NFL jersey is the player’s surname in letters that are 2 ½
(two and a half) inches high. His name appears across the upper-back just
above the numerals.
- The helmet and face mask are designed to protect a player’s face and head
from serious injury.
- Pads are necessary to absorb the many physical blows a player takes during a
game and protect every part of his body.
- Shoes and cleats Football cleats come in 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, 3/4-inch, and 1-inch
lengths.

Out of the options of Body Size and Composition, Muscle Strength, Muscular
Endurance, Power, Speed / Quickness, Agility, Flexibility, Balance and
Coordination, and Cardiovascular Endurance, factor which is considered the most
important is Power followed by Speed / Quickness.

In my opinion it is an interesting sport in which you must have speed and strength
