THE CANTERVILLE GHOST –

SCRIPT

Once upon a time, there were an enormous castle, called “the
Canterville Castle”. One day, The Otis Family decided to buy the
castle, instead of the terrifying ghost that were living with them.
LORD CANTERVILLE: Respectable Mr. Otis, I am proud that you
are so interested in acquiring Canterville Castle, but I must warm
you that it has been inhabited for more than 300 years by an
annoying ghost and that has caused many tragedies; the last
known victim was the Duchess of Balton, she was getting ready in
her room until she noticed skeleton hands on her shoulder, she
fell ill from fright and never recovered. After that fact, no servant
wanted to stay in the castle, only the housekeeper, whom I ask to
please hire her if we finalize the purchase of the castle.
MR. OTIS: Mr. Canterville, I thank you for your warning, but you
need to know that we Americans are fanatics of these stories, in
my land, they would give a lot of money to buy a castle with a
ghost.
LORD CANTERVILLE: You see, Mr. Otis, in England ghosts are
considered dangerous.
MR. OTIS: Don´t worry, we´re not afraid of ghosts.
NARRATOR: Having said this, Mr. Otis and Lord Canterville
finalized the sale of the castle, with a ghost included in its price. A
few days later, Mr. Otis travelled to England with his whole family,
to open his castle during the summer holidays, however, the
weather in England in Summer was not the best. When they
arrived at the old castle, an old woman, the housekeeper, came
out to greet them and said:
HOUSEKEEPER: Welcome to the Canterville Castle.
MR. OTIS: You must be the only one who inhabits this castle!
HOUSEKEEPER: Yes, sir, no other could resist the terror of the
ghost in the castle.
MR. OTIS: Don´t worry, we won´t run away, we love ghosts.
MRS. OTIS: Why didn´t they clean this blood stain? I find it
disgusting.
HOUSEKEEPER; Madam, that is the blood stain of the wife of
Simon de Canterville, the ghost that lives in this castle and is
always in charge of making the blood reappear. Impossible to
believe!
MRS. OTIS: That stain needs to be removed with this champion
brand Stain Remover.
WASHINGTON: Excuse me, mother, I´ll take care of removing that
stain.
(one night…)
MR. OTIS: For the love of god! Can you stop making so much
noise? We´re trying to sleep, even if you take mister ghost I have
a wonderful product that can be a solution to remove rust and
squeak from your chains.
T1 and T2: Ghost Hunting!
THE GHOST: I can´t believe it, with this same sound of chains I
recently scared Mr. Fox and he fell in fright, in my vampire
costume lady stiffed had a panic attack, and now I am being
humiliated by a man who offers a product for my chains and brats
throwing pillows at me.
(The next morning…)
MR. OTIS: Mr. Ghost, don´t try to do things you can´t because of
your age.
VIRGINIA: You look very sad.
THE GHOST: I am, nothing makes sense anymore.
VIRGINIA: Why don´t we let you be bad?
THE GHOST: I´m not bad, I just do the things that ghosts do.
VIRGINIA: Oh, yeah? And why did you use up all my paint cans
without permission doing that stain by the fireplace every day?
You took almost all the colours out of me and I never told you
anything.
THE GHOST: You are right.
VIRGINIA: Are you hungry?
THE GHOST: I can´t eat, that´s what I dead.
VIRGINIA: Hungry? That awful!
THE GHOST: I haven´t eaten or slept for 300 years.
VIRGINIA: How can I help?
THE GHOST: Cry for me, pray for me, you are a woman with
innocence, so I can go in peace.
(The ghost disappeared, and after the Otis Family looked
throughout the castle, at 12:00 AM, the wall opened and Virginia
appeared)
VIRGINIA: Rest in peace with the ghost, and left me a chest with
jewels to thank me, I just cried and prayed for him.
(After the Otis family assisted to the funeral of Simon de
Canterville, The Otis Family lived in peace without the ghost).
