B. INSIGHTS (What new insights or learning did you gain from the topic?)

1. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that

-Non-verbal Communication can only be used intentionally.

However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that

-It can also be used unintentionally. For example, you might smile unintentionally when

you hear a pleasing or enjoyable idea or piece of information.

2. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that

-The elements of communication only have (7) seven elements.

However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that

-there are actually (9) nine elements. The sender, message, encoding, channel, receiver, decoding,
feedback, noise and lastly context.

3. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that

-Ethics is all about morals, values and decision making and that it had nothing to do with
communication.

However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that

- Ethics is also the basis of our communication. These ethics consider being aware of the consequences
of behavior and consequences; it's to “respect other points of view and tolerate disagreement”.

2.Can you tell me more about the Communication Cycle model? (Shannon and Weaver)

3.Do you believe that technology has an impact on how we communicate? and in what way?
