Assessment task description:

 This is the third (3) assessment task you must successfully complete to be deemed
competent in this unit of competency.
 This assessment task is a Skills Test.
 This assessment task consists of four ( 4) practical demonstration activities.
 Activity 1: Identify and confirm research strategy keeping in view the
organisational requirements.
 Activity 2: Collect and store research information
 Acitivity 3: Analyse and synthesise research information
 Activity 4: Review and present research information
 You will receive your feedback within two (1) week, and you will be notified by your
trainer/assessor when your results are available.
 You must attempt all activities of the project for your trainer/assessor to assess your
competence in this assessment task.

Applicable conditions:

 This skill test is untimed and is conducted as an open book assessment (this means you
are able to refer to your textbook or other learner materials during the test).
 You will be assessed independently on this assessment task.
 No marks or grades are allocated for this assessment task. The outcome of the task will be
Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.
 As you complete this assessment task, you are predominately demonstrating your skills,
techniques and knowledge to your trainer/assessor.
 Your trainer/assessor may ask you relevant questions during this assessment task

Resubmissions and reattempts:

 Where a student’s answers are deemed not satisfactory after the first attempt, a
resubmission attempt will be allowed.
 The student may speak to their trainer/assessor if they have any difficulty in completing
this task and require reasonable adjustments.

analyse and present research information in a range of contexts and industry settings.

Assessment task instructions
 This assessment task aims to assess the students’ skills to collect, organise, analyse and present
information using available systems and sources.
 The student will take on the Research analyst in the training organisation.
 The research must be conducted based on the organsiational requirement and research objectives.
 The student must use the templates provided to document their responses.
 Word-limit to complete the research report is 1200-1500 words.
 The trainer/assessor must assess the student using the performance checklist provided.

Skills Test

This assessment task requires you to take on the role of a Research analyst in your training organisation.

As the research analyst, you are required to research, analyse and present research findings according
to organisational requirements.

To do os, you need to complete the following activities:

Case study:

“ONLINE MEDIA SOLUTIONS” is an online marketing and web development agency based in Melbourne,
Australia since 2008. The company has following operations:

 Website development

 Graphics designing

 Search Engine Optimisation

 Marketing

The company employees 25 staff members.

Due to the current coronavirus situation and government regulations, the employees will be working
from home from next monday. The company will provide all employees with a company laptop. The
owner of the company is undecided whether Microsoft or the Apple laptops would be better for all the
employees. However, the following are the minimum requirements that each laptop should have:

 Intel Core i7-9700K

 Windows 10

 Recent graphic card

 8GB RAM minimum

 500 GB Hard Drive or 256 SSD (solid state drive)

 Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet

 Accidental Damage plan

The owner of the organisation wants you to complete a research project.

Organiasational requirements relevant to use of research strategy:

Using the case study information, complete a research project which outlines the benefits of the two
major laptop providers.

The report must be prepared in accordance with the organisational requirements.

Organisational requirements:

 The information must be gatherers and organised in a format that is suitable for analysis.

 The information must be interpreted and clearly understood.

 Information must be accurate. Provide reference to the source of the information.

 Determine the methods to collect information, considering reliable and reputable requirements.

must be checked for:

o reliability

o accuracy

o authority

o audience

o relevance

Organisation policy used to compile research report:

Avoid jargon

Jargon is a technical or specialist language unique to a profession or group that is understood by those
on the inside but is often incomprehensible or meaningless to outsiders.

It can take many forms, such as acronyms like ‘RUN,’ ‘EFTSL,’ or ‘AB,’ unfamiliar phrases like ‘capacity
building,’ or conventional words with special meanings like ‘accreditation.’

If you cannot avoid terms that are likely to be unfamiliar to respondents, clearly explain to them when
they are first used or list them in a glossary for a report or add them to the Definitions Dictionary in the
case of a policy or procedure.

Use non-discriminatory (inclusive) language

Individuals and groups can be discriminated against based on their gender, race or ethnic origin,
physical or intellectual disability, sexual preference, or age. To avoid discriminatory expressions,
rewriting or recasting a sentence may be a better solution than substituting words.

Organisational policies and procedures to review online research:

The organisation has the policies and procedures that must be adhered to while reviewing the online
research on competitor analysis.

● The files should be named using the following sequence:

● The files should be stored using cloud storage i.e. Google Doc.

● The Google Doc file should also be downloaded in .pdf format and stored in C Drive following the
naming conventions given above.

● The files should be password protected.

Organisational policy to distribute research report:

Email method should be used to distribute the research report to interested parties.

Email must:

● Include an appropriate subject line.

● Provide a summary of the reseach report

● Include research report as an attachment.

Further, the supervisor must be provided with the handouts of the research report and feedback and
comments of suitability and sufficiency of findings must be obtained in accordance with organisational
requirements.

Research objectives

The objective of ONLINE MEDIA SOLUTIONS is to provide an excellent tool to its workers in
the development of the activity that corresponds to it, also to be able to provide excellent
communication to its workers as well as to its clients who, through the Covid 19, their
attention is online and they work from home.

Three (3) potential sources of research information

 One of the potential sources of research information is that the organization seeks
advice from a person who has knowledge about the products, since through the advice
offered by this person, the owner of the company can select which product is potential
for the organization. And for their workers.

surveys, since through them there will be a percentage and validation of each product

The reliability of the power sources since they are based on surveys and with research on
reliable websites that provide clients with all the necessary information that the client needs,

the solution of the problem of the company.

accordance with the research strategy.

distribution and store files in word or pdf version.

Step 2: Store research data in accordance with security requirements and organisational policies and
procedures for storing and naming files given in the assessment task.

This activity is a continuation of Activity 2.

This activity requires the student to analyse and synthesise research information collected in Activity 2.

Further, you need to compile and prepare a draft research report.

Your research report must follow the below-given guidelines:

 The report must be prepared using ‘Template 2’ provided. The word limit to complete the
report is 1200-1500 words.

 Start with an introduction, then move on to supporting body paragraphs. Write a conclusion and
cite your sources.

 You must only use authentic and verifiable information.

 The report should be presented in the provided format.

 Proofread it.

 Always make sure to run your ideas by your trainer/assessor to make sure that it is okay that
you approach the report in this way.

 Your report must contain original content and should not be a “copy” of someone else’s work.

 You must use Harvard style referencing in the report.

To prepare the research report, you are required to follow the steps given below and document the

RAM, 512GB) this is a latest generation laptop that will help workers to carry out all their activities in an
easy and practical way to they.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 laptop contains the following items 12.3" Touch-Screen - 10th Gen Intel
Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 256GB SSD it is a very complete computer it is used in many companies for
the creation of marketing it is a large and tactile laptop, it has large capacity to save any kind of files
has great applications for the use of graphic design and is useful and has different uses for your
company.

The computer experts have commented throughout the analysis and verifying each of the problems that
the company has and what the owner of the company wants, they observed that the laptops have very
similar functions and that they will help them to what the owner wants by They gave the pros and cons
of each of the laptops selected by the owner.

The Late 2016 Apple MacBook Pro laptop is a complete laptop that can be used for the creation of
marketing and web pages as it also has each of the conditions that the owner wants, it offers you great

generation laptop with Totally updated programs where the creation of marking is easy and the contact
of the clients is more effective and coordinates all the items required by the owner of the company since
one of the items required by him is that it was core i7 and the graphic card which will have a great
function for creating marketing.

Another investigation that we carried out was with the 25 workers of the company ONLINE MEDIA
SOLUTIONS, an investigation was made through a survey since the workers have knowledge about
which computers and they were asked which one they would think you could use for work at the They
answered that the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 laptop since, due to its touch screen and its large screen,
editing is much easier for workers and since it has different functions and its applications are fully
updated

workers require to carry out the work.

requirements and document using Template 3.

Step 2: Conduct review of draft report in accordance with organistaional policies and procedures given
in the assessment task.

o relevant to audience

● Check the draft report for language, structure and style.

● Finalise the research report.

Step 3: Demostrate in the research report that the assumptions and conclusions used in the analysis are
