Rita Olson graduated from UW in 2019 with a B.Sc. in microbiology. She now works as an Associate Scientist at Just Evotec Biologics in South Lake Union. She interned with the company during her undergraduate studies. Her current role involves meetings, documentation, and wet lab work to support manufacturing as the company onboards a new facility. She found the microbiology program prepared her with a solid foundation but did not explore industry options well. She recommends asking questions, making connections, and taking diverse classes to explore different career paths.
