INTRODUCTION

The Viral Fever, abbreviated to TVF, is an Indian video-on-demand and over-the-top

streaming service and YouTube channel started by TVF Media Labs in 2010, and
currently owned and operated by Contagious Online Media Network Private Limited.
According to the founder Arunabh Kumar, the thought behind starting TVF was to
reach out to the younger generation who seldom watch television entertainment.

The Viral Fever was one of the early arrivals on the Indian digital entertainment
segment with videos covering a range of topics on Indian politics, movies, lifestyle,
and emerging social concepts. The Viral Fever was the pioneer of web series in India
with cult hits like Permanent Roommates and TVF Pitchers. The company runs the
app and website TVF Play to host its videos. TVF conceptualized the idea of
promoting movies through the creation and distribution of original digital content. The
Ishq Wala song series is one such venture.

Their first web series, Permanent Roommates, debuted in 2014. It was the second
most-viewed long-form web series in the world by June 2015. A second original series
titled TVF Pitchers was released in June 2015. It portrays engineers at different
companies who quit their jobs to create a start-up company.

Owing to its growing popularity, with both TVF Pitchers and Permanent Roommates
being watched by millions around the globe, the company received $10 million in
funding from Tiger Global in February 2016.

In May 2021 TVF reached a milestone of 10M subscribers and presently it has 11.2M,
active subscribers

drama and thrills
CONTENT ANALYSIS OF
ASPIRANTS

Genre analysis: Aspirants genre is Drama: The drama genre features stories with high
stakes and a lot of conflicts. They're plot-driven and demand that every character and scene
move the story forward. Dramas follow a clearly defined narrative plot structure, portraying
real-life scenarios or extreme situations with emotionally-driven characters.
Indeed, the aspirants live up to their genre. As a result, the plot moves forward, the characters
entertain, inspire, and motivate you at the same time. The story is a roller coaster of emotions
and drama. Despite being a fictional story, it is a story of millions of aspirants preparing for
the UPSC, To keep it very close to reality the makers took inspiration from real-life incidents
of on-duty officers

Background analysis: Well in the past the Indian Cinema did try to showcase the life of
bureaucrats prime examples could be “Nil battey sannata” and “Shaadi me zarur aana”. But
these films lacked depth, they only showed the power these officers possessed, ignoring the
hard work and perseverance an aspirant puts into their preparation.
Unfortunately, Bollywood gave UPSC exam the image of a revenge tool or a way to elude
break-ups. Thus TVF comes to the rescue. TVF is known for its content that connects with
the masses TVF has something for everyone. So it was their chance to show a journey of an
aspirant and they nailed it.
They made a beautiful fictional show on aspirants keeping it very close to the real world, A
show to which every aspirant could relate with.
The audience returned the favour by showering love on the show.
The total views Aspirants received is 167M (5 episodes combined),
it went on to feature in the list of Top10 shows of 2021.
Currently on IMDB its holds the rating of 9.2 with 6.3K user reviews.

Character analysis: In Episode 1 At 16:36 There is a large difference in body language
between Abhilash's character in both stories. In the first story, Abhilash stands on a road and
the scene slowly moves to top which is shot beautifully. DM Abhilash's tone is bold and hard,
his posture is straight, and he appears confident. In contrast, the Abhilash of 2012 is
underconfident, talks in a low tone, and droops his shoulders downward. Actors can only
bring this difference to a character if they put effort into it and Naveen Kasturia has done this
admirably.

VS

Analytical approach:
A great Example of Show Don’t tell

 29:06:- the map shown in the background is old one where J&K is still a state

Episode 2
Episode 3
Episode 4
Episode 5

Adapted from real-life incidents

 At the start of Episode 1, we see Abhilash explaining public how to dispose of a
plastic bottle and the true meaning of MRP (Maximum retail price).
This particular scene is inspired by a real incident, where a Railway Officer explains
the same to passengers

 Again at the start of Episode 5, we see Abhilash questioning his subordinates about
the increased bill sent to poor farmers this particular scene is inspired by a real-life
incident of Ashok Chandna who is Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports
Department of Rajasthan
