Introduction
1. The Square Food and Beverage company is renowned in today's market. It produces
better quality Noodles that are well accepted in the country and abroad. The company desires to
upgrade the processing system to produce more per day to enhance sales and earn profits and
fame. As Operational Head of this company, I am bestowed with the responsibility to upgrade
this process into automation. To decide on what type of automation is preferred I need to follow
Decision Making Process to approve this project.

Identify the Problem

2. Square Food and Beverage company needs an automated production line of Instant
Noodles.

Identification of Decision Criteria

3. I have been allotted 40 lacs for this project. Maximum 5 employees to be able to run this
machine. Availability of spare parts and after-sales service is essential. The establishment area is
not a problem. It should produce approximately double the existing one. I would prefer the
following decision criteria:
a. Packet per day production.
b. Generator facility.
c. Warranty period.
d. Energy saving.
e. Cost.
f. Number of employees required.
g. Availability of spare parts.

Allocation of Weight to the Criteria

Analysis Alternatives
6. I made up the above findings of the alternative options as follows:
a. All Companys are very good as per the analysis. Though Fuji and Toshiba are better in
quality but have a maximum price range. Shangdong being the lowest has maximum user
records.
b. Most importantly the Shangdong has a high probability of spare parts locally available
which will ease up our troubleshooting in the long run.
c. Shangdong has more energy-saving capability than Fuji and Toshiba. As such overall
production cost would be less.
d. The importing and installation cost would be more for Fuji and Toshiba as it is Japan
origin.
e. The warranty period is more in Shangdong which gives us flexibility.
f. Above all, Shangdong has more production capability per day than the other two. It
also saves more energy and manpower.

Choosing the Best Alternative

7. Based on the above analysis, Shangdong Loyal Industry company from China would
be our best solution to make Instant Noodles automation system than Fuji and Toshiba. It will
fulfill the organizational requirements for the automation system. It would also facilitate more
production, more profit and will be able to earn fame in the market.

with the overall machine. Thus, we could achieve five times more workers on this.
d. The spare parts availability was also tested and many parts could be made locally.
They also assured us to provide spares from China.

Evaluating the Decision’s Effectiveness

9. After successfully installing the machine, we started production of automated Noodles
and found that:
