BACKGROUND

The Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems

Engineers or PSABE is a non-profitable professional
organization that gathers all licensed and aspiring
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers of the country,
guided by Republic Act no. 10915 known as the Philippine
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Act of 2016
(www.psabe.org.ph). The organization, with a mission to
promote the practice and profession towards boosting the
modernization and development of the agri-fishery sector,
was founded in 1950 with its general aim of advancing the
theory and practice of agricultural and biosystems
engineering.

Co-hosted by the Cavite State University, the Philippine

Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE)
will be holding the 18th Annual Regional Convention with
the theme “Engineering Response to COVID-19 Pandemic
Towards Rebuilding Philippine Agriculture”. The COVID-19
pandemic negatively affected the world. The pandemic
greatly changed the way people live, particularly when it
comes to the conduct of events and celebrations. With the
wide range of disciplines, examples abound of how
engineering researches can aid during this pandemic,
particularly in the field of agriculture.

The celebration will include among others the conference,

presentations of plenary and technical papers on the role of
agricultural and biosystems engineers in rebuilding the
society. Moreover, the celebration will also cover the
development and trends under the different fields of
agricultural and biosystems engineering.

During the two-day conference, PSABE will also be giving

out awards to chapters and members of the organization
who have shown excellent and meritorious performance in
their respective field of work, including some special awards.
OBJECTIVE

The 18th Annual Regional Convention of the Philippine

Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE)
aims to:

1. Provide knowledge on the development and trends on

agricultural technologies and engineering practices in the
area of farm power and machinery, renewable energy,
postharvest and agro-processing, agricultural buildings
and structures, irrigation, and soil and water
conservation and management, aquaculture/fisheries;
2. Provide seminars on topics related to the field of
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering;
3. Nominate and elect new set of officers for PSABE Region
IV chapter; and
4. Engage the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers Pre-
Professional Group in competitions regarding ABE
innovation in time of pandemic.

METHODOLOGY

The regional convention will be conducted using the online

platform to reach the target participants.

All presentations will be provided by PSABE Region IV-A

Chapter thru google drive.
