Wala was killed by gangsters on
29 May 2022.
Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu Moose
Wala and the Congress leader was killed by
gangsters in an attack near his ancestral
village Jawaharke in district Mansa, Punjab on
29 May 2022. The incident happened within 24
hours after the Punjab government withdrew
his security. More than 30 rounds of bullets
were fired at the vehicle in which he was
traveling. Police said Sidhu was hit by more
than eight bullets and was taken to the Civil
Hospital in Mansa where he died.
The 27 years old was on the radar of gangsters
for a long time. 6 persons have been taken into
custody allegedly in connection with the
murder. Sidhu’s father has sought handing
over of the probe to the CBI or the NIA through
a sitting judge of the High Court. Also
demanded to fix the responsibility of the
officials who leaked the letter to withdraw the
security.

CBDC : Digital Currency of India to
be introduced soon
A Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is the
legal tender to be issued by Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) in a digital form. It is the same as a
fiat currency and is exchangeable one-to-one
with the fiat currency.
Reserve Bank (RBI) is engaged in the
introduction of a Central Bank Digital Currency
(CBDC). RBI has been exploring the pros and
cons of introduction of CBDC in India. The
design of CBDC needs to be in conformity with
the stated objectives of monetary policy,
financial stability and efficient operations of
currency and payment systems.
Implementation of CBDC: The RBI is
examining the appropriate design elements of
CBDCs that could be implemented with little,
or no disruption. The RBI proposes to adopt a
graded approach to introduction of CBDC,
going step by step through stages of

Central Bank Digital Currency is Legal in India:
The introduction of Central Bank Digital
Currency (CBDC) has been announced in the
Union Budget 2022-23. After that an

appropriate amendment to the RBI Act, 1934
has been included in the Finance Bill, 2022. The
Finance Bill, 2022 has been enacted, providing
a legal framework for the launch of CBDC.
PNB MetLife launched India‟s 1st
dental health insurance plan
PNB MetLife India Insurance Company has
launched India’s 1st dental health insurance
plan.
It is the 1st insurance plan in India that covers
fixed-benefit outpatient expenses & provides
financial assistance with costs related to
overall dental health. This launch reinforces
PNB MetLife leadership in the industry with
this one-of-a-kind, standalone, the dental
health insurance plan that covers major dental
procedures without the hassles of
hospitalisation.
RBI has hikes the repo rate by 40
basis points to 4.40 per cent
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has hiked the
policy repo rate by 40 basis points, taking it to
4.40 per cent on 4 May 2922. The Monetary
Policy Committee (MPC) decided to increase
the policy repo rate under the Liquidity
Adjustment Facility (LAF) by 40 basis points to
4.40 per cent with immediate effect.
Therefore, the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF)
rate stands adjusted to 4.15 per cent and the
Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the
Bank Rate to 4.65 per cent.
The Monetary Policy Committee also decided
to remain accommodative while focusing on
withdrawal of accommodation to ensure that
inflation remains within the target going
forward, while supporting growth. These MPC
decisions are in consonance with the objective
of achieving the medium-term target for

per cent within a band of /- two per cent, while

Subrahmanyam flagged off the first
consignment of goods comprising jewellery
products from India to UAE.
The ministry said, CEPA is expected to increase
the total value of bilateral trade in goods to
over USD 100 billion and trade in services to
over USD 15 billion within five years.
GST Revenue collection for April
2022 is Rs 1.68 lakh crore : All
time high
The gross GST revenue collected in the month
of April, 2022 is Rs 1,67,540 crore of which
CGST is Rs 33,159 crore, SGST is Rs 41,793
crore, IGST is Rs 81,939 crore (including
Rs 36,705 crore collected on import of goods)
and cess is Rs 10,649 crore (including Rs 857
crore collected on import of goods).
The gross GST collection in April 2022 is all
time high, Rs 25,000 crore more than the
next highest collection of Rs. 1,42,095 crore,
just last month.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
(PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima
Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana
(APY) on 9th May 2022 complete 7 years of
providing social security net. This schemes
were launched by Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on 9th May 2015 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
These schemes have been successful in
providing affordable insurance, security &
benefits to people.
These 3 social security schemes are dedicated
to the welfare of the citizens, recognizing the
need for securing human life from unforeseen
risks or losses and financial uncertainties.
In order to ensure that the people from the
unorganized section of the country are
financially safe, Government launched 2
insurance schemes – Pradhan Mantri Jeevan

relaxation on banning wheat
export

announced some relaxation in its order issued
on May 13 on banning wheat exports by the
Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of
the Department of Commerce. It has been
decided that wherever consignments of wheat
have been handed over to the Customs
Department for examination and which have
been registered in their system on or before
13.05.2022 will be allowed to be exported.
The government also allowed a consignment
of wheat headed to Egypt which was already
under loading at Kandla port. This was
followed by a request by the Egyptian
government to allow the wheat cargo being
loaded at Kandla port. The company attached
for export of wheat to Egypt is M/s Mera
International India Pvt. Ltd. had also made
representations to complete the loading of
61,500 MT of wheat of which 44,340 MT of
wheat had already been loaded and only 17,160
MT of wheat was yet to be loaded. The

allowed it to be shipped from Kandla to Egypt.

Monkeypox virus is an enveloped double-
stranded DNA virus that belongs to
the Orthopoxvirus genus of
the Poxviridae family.
Monkeypox has made its presence felt in the
United Kingdom.. The patient has a recent

travel history from Nigeria, where they are
suspected of having an infection, before
travelling to the UK, According to the UK
Health Security Agency (HSA), which
confirmed the case.
Monkeypox Virus.
Monkeypox :
Monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (virus
transmitted from animals to humans) with
symptoms similar to those seen in the past in
patients with smallpox, although it is less
severe clinically. With the eradication of
smallpox in 1980 and the subsequent cessation
of smallpox vaccination, monkeypox has
emerged as the most important orthopoxvirus
for public health. Monkeypox occurs mainly in
Central & West Africa, often near tropical
rainforests, & is increasingly appearing in
urban areas. Animal hosts include rodents & a
range of non-human primates.
History :
Monkeypox virus was initially discovered in a
colony of Cynomolgus monkeys kept at the
State Serum Institute in Copenhagen in 1958.
“Monkeypox was first introduced into the
Rotterdam Zoo in 1966. The Congo
Basin & West African clades of the Monkeypox
virus are responsible for the disease. A Clades
is a collections of organisms that have a
common ancestor. Coronavirus, for example,
are a clade within the coronaviridae family.

Symptoms of monkeypox :

Monkeypox viral attack, the symptoms can be

divided into 2 categories : invasion & skin rash.
It usually takes 6 to 13 days for monkeypox to
incubate.
The patient has fever, severe headache,
lymphadenopathy (swelling of the lymph
nodes), back pain, myalgia (muscle pain), and
an acute asthenia during the invasion phase,
within the first 5 days of illness (lack of energy)
it happens.
